I personally believe, not only from the performance I saw, but also the reaction I have heard and the sudden spike in album sales this years breakout is Janelle Monae... sure she was 2nd top on a large stage but her album sales have increased almost 5,000% already & I'm convinced this performance will be remembered for years to come.
Do you agree or disagree? If so then why and who do you feel is the breakout Glasto star this year.

Janelle Monae SMASHED it. I only caught the last half of her set... but my lord. Brilliant. It'd almost be nice if she remained a badly kept secret like she's been for the last couple of years, but I strongly suspect she'll blow up bigger than Veruca Salt this year.
Laura Marling was a bit of a surprise for me. Was expecting her to be a bit folk-by-numbers, but she's got some lovely songs and some really great arrangements. Talented lady.

RASTAMOUSE!
Needs to be on the Pyramid next time!

I watched Janelle Monae on TV last night. Sorry, I just don't get it. Nice to look at; confident; no tunes.
I'd like to say the breakout was The Joy Formidable. Astonishing. But I suspect that in the John Peel Tent, they were preaching to the converted.

Thats what I thought of the Joy Formidable
Apart from the nice to look at bit of course.

I am loving the love for the Joy formidable, they were brilliant , they will be massive and this is purely because in Ritzy Bryan they have a true star.
And Laura Marling was just dreamlike in the sun on the Pyramid... and people thought she would get lost on such a big stage.

One of the nice things about Ritzy Brian of The Joy Formidable was that she'd go from "nice to look at" to "scary angry woman" in the blink of an eye.

Janelle Monae was repeated ad nauseam by the BBC so I guess they're pushing her as the breakout star.

Friendly Fires for me. That dancing alone warrants a Pyramid Stage slot.

My mate reckoned they were filming, although I didn't notice. I'm a bit torn because one the one hand, I want to keep it as a memory. On the other hand, I've a friend who will absolutely LOVE them, and I'd like to show him.
I've just bought tickets to see them in October

I am going with Ed Sheeran! the BBC Introducing performance was my 'moment' of Glasto 2011.
I have hairs sticking up on my arms just thinking about it...

unfortunately I was not there and had to settle for the BBC.
Janelle Monae was incredible, her voice, her energy, her bands energy, were all spot on.
Will def be looking to see her this year.
Will be trying to get tickets for 2013.
