The ticket checks were ridiculous.  As far as I know the photo system was to stop touting (what ME said when he introduced it), fair enough that the ticket is checked thoroughly when the wrist-band is issued, but what then is the point of the wrist-band if you need your ticket to get in/out of the festival and go through ID checks each time?

As far as I'm concerned the photo ID has far exceeded it's intended purpose.

They might as well issue us all with laminates with our photo on.  That way it can stay on my neck and I don't have to try and keep that pathetic piece of paper dry.  Mine was soaked and disintegrated into crumbs.

I don't think the photo checks can be stringent enough.  If people can't make the festival at the last minute due to illness, etc. and sell at cost then that is innocent enough, but if you think ticket day is hard at the moment just see how hard it gets if touts think they can resell down the road!

Pass outs should have been given to any ticket holders upon exit. Obviously kids young enough to not need one don't need a pass out.
Oh, I know they should be - and my kid was old enough to need one, but didn't get one as I said. But he wasn't exactly "a ticket holder", because as I said above, a selection of unusual/special circumstances meant that his photo had been cut from his ticket.

So they weren't happy for him to exit with a pass-out as someone would normally. Instead they invented a 'system' on the spot which allowed him to leave the site and know he'd be able to get back in - they used their initiative, which was a good thing.  :)

Yeah, in some cases - e.g. tickets being bought in or taken out for other people - we kept a running list of names and circumstances in order to be as flexible as possible without unduly compromising the system. I would have given him a pass out and treated it like one of the Hospitality (H) or Performers (P) tickets and just asked for some ID on re-entry from yourself, or put him on the list if on his own.

Easiest blag was with the Villagers (V) tickets - pretty much transferrable to any of their mates outside the festival on exit. Eavis changed his mind about them and how they could be used just days before the festival - caused quite a few complications . . .

It is POSSIBLE to remove a wrist band and put it on someone else, but it makes it a chunk harder.
So it makes sense to have both a wrist band and a photo ID.
I never wore waterproofs, was in the rain a lot and still managed to keep my ticket dry :).

I had my band checked twice whilst on site, one whilst I was queueing for the loo at 9am on bushy ground and again walking to bushy ground past gate D. Both times they inspected my band and checked the metal fastening.

Did anyone have gas cooking canisters taken off them by security? Me and my brother were searched comming back in and told they were banned and removed from us (though we did have more in a bag they didn't search). I thought this was pretty odd as most of the camping shops on site sell them so my Dad emailed the festival who informed him they are not banned and should not have been taken off us.

On Sunday afternoon we took the stuff back to the car. We came back in through Gate B and I was checked for ID as I didn't look like the guy on the ticket (I think I photoshopped a bit more hair in to cover the bald spots). Luckily I had my driver's license and i got in ok.

She thanked me for not kicking off. So I guess they have had some problems during the festival. I don't mind them being strict, I would rather the bad'uns be kept out.

Makes sense for what purpose?  There's a site capacity (limited by wristbands) and then there's the ticket touting issue.

Did you go in/out of the gates many times?  I had to show it many times each day and the ticket has to come out into the rain at some point.

Asked the guy on Gate A if they'd had many trying to get in on wrong photos and his response was "I'd let them in anyway" during this chat I was also aware that he didn't look at my ticket once!

I certainly noticed a bit more of a thorough check this year than last, it could be because I arrived in the dark though and she struggled to see the picture!
