HOW GOOD WERE THEY?! It was the gig of my life, they were on top form and Jarvis' chatting and handing out chocolates between songs was just brilliant and hilarious. I loved that (for me, at least) no one around me seemed to be sure of who would walk out on stage, there was a lot of talk of arctic monkeys, and so when the beatbox-guy said 'special guests....PULP' it went absolutely mad. A brilliant feeling.
Only criticism- about the stage rather than the band, I was near the front and could barely see. The view for everyone could be improved if the stage were raised a few feet I think, and maybe some screens. Also, it was seriously rammed and there was no way anyone could have easily left the crowd, would be a worrying experience if someone had to urgently get out.

Gig of my life as well. Jarvis is a master. Glad I took the time to sit through Tame Impala (which was a bit tedious) Worth it in so many ways

definately the highlight of glasto 2011 without a doubt, my only complaint was they were on at the same time as elbow, had to sacrifice one of them but dont regret the decision at all!

I thought they were immense and a definite highlight. Not sure how Moz and Elbow would feel though having lost a sizeable part of their crowd to a 'secret' gig.

raising the stage would help but I'm not sure about the lack of screens. A guy behind me was complaining loudly about it and I can see what he meant - personally I saw very little but heard everything and that was more than enough. There's a danger if they make the stage and setup bigger that it becomes just like the pyramid/other and loses some if the 'specialness' of the park, but if they do two guest slots next time people will be expecting headliners and we'll have 30000 people rammed in hoping for a good view. I think having some speakers facing the hill would help, we went up there first for radiohead, it wasn't too rammed and the view was ok but it was nowhere near loud enough to appreciate...

We were camped about 30 meters up the middle path of Pennards and were told that the campsite was closed as people were using it as a shortcut to access the already (clearly) full Park. All I wanted was my wallet!
Not sad I missed them but golly was that area FULL. You could see the brown stain up the hill from the railway where everyone had trapsed up!

this thread is gonna kill me, but I went to the park for B.A.D. and couldn't see them play at all so I just left. Didn't matter to me if the rolling stones turned up, I couldn't see f**k all despite not being that far away. But yeah, I am a sour sod for missing Pulp.

It wasn't that crowded near the front, if you want to get a good spot then head to the Park through the tipis and come up by the ribbon tower, people always block up the middle so the crowd on the right builds up fast and the left stays relatively spaced out.

Morrissey was on Friday
I don't think Guy Garvey could complain about a band not appearing on the bill and going on a smaller stage

Amazing! So glad I went early enough to get a spot where i could see too, albeit about ˝ mile back...
I do think they need to stop putting on such well-known special guests though: the infrastructure in The Park can't really cope with a fifth of the festival attendees descending on it.

BAD were on friday, Pulp on saturday
We went to BAD, we were stood near the front through out the gig, when it ended I turned around to see a mass of people, I knew this was for radiohead, so got the f*ck out of there, quick snap
Found out they shut the park down, so for Pulp we got there about 1 1/2 hour early and it was still busy, but best gig of the week

They shouldn't leak who the special guests are.
That way you take a bit of a gamble on who will appear and may be rewarded with a great act.

My mates and I were right at the front for Radiohead and we had a perfect view so I'm not sure but the sloped hill doesn't help sometimes.
