See the most recent pages of the Weather Thread 2011 just below - though of course one man's downpour is another man's light drizzle; one man's mudbath is another man's muddy puddle.

It's very muddy in the busy routes. I.e. Through gate c. Lots of slushy mud and some sizeable puddles. Grass where it's not churned up is pretty sturdy. Wellies are getting sucked off feet and trainers are hopelessly lost!

biblical conditions I heard - driving rain, hail stones the size of melons, waist-deep mud, fire and brimstone
I'd stay at home if I were you

Have just popped back after putting up our tents in the pouring rain. Loads of people on the site already. Family camping at Cockcroft Meadow was full by 11.30am (not helped by almost the entire top area now out of bounds).
Metal walkways are fine but very muddy on either side. Stage fields are generally fine. Lots of new stuff to see which is good. The sun is now shining.

My mate is on site and not happy at all. His Hunters are a right mess and he got some mud on his Raybans.
That's for you russy.

I'm leaving for the festival in a few hours, not even the mention of the loathesome hunters can infuriate me now!!

Will my Cashmere get dirty, or should I bring my Barbour?
#14
Posted 22 June 2011 - 02:54 PM
its not a cashmere year dahhhhling. Definately bring the barbour, I'm told that at waitrose they have carrier bags you can put over your boots to keep them clean, just kick them off before you get in the range rover back to the hotel.

And it bears absolutely no resemblance to the forecasts being given currently by more reputable sources, such as the met office - the video at the bottom is already out of date! The satellites show a possible down-pour at about 4am tonight/tomorrow morning at present and other than that no rain at all until the end of tomorrow. There is still a suggestion that it will belt down for a short while on Friday evening (I was thinking it would make the U2 haters happy but now that I think about it, surely Moz will bring the rain with him - and he'll still be epic!) but other than that we're looking at sporadic showers or nothing at all.
Everyone! - Stop worrying, leave me a space to camp and don't drink all the Brothers!!! Think about it this way - there's thousands of people want to be in that mud with you, right now! I'm one of them, but at least I know I can join in from Thursday night.
It's all going to be great!
