A lot of people would be pretty annoyed.

If they're stuggling for a 3rd headliner then why don't they give someone their first shot at it, like Biffy last year
A7X aren't doing anything this summer are they? So that rules them out. Personally I'd get BFMV, they'd do a good job imo. Failing that theres always Paramore.... Or Machine Head maybe? They're playing sine of the euro Soni's and it'd be better than having no headliner.

Paramore's manager said it's not happening, Machine Head are 3rd down at Download and BFMV are working on a new album but may not be a huge deal for them to leave the studio for a few days though they aren't the same as Biffy who were growing bigger and bigger.

I can see it being bullet with them saying they're giving them a leg up ala biffy. To be honest, I'd sooner watch Bullet than Kiss.

That is one of the things I like about Sonisphere they give bands chance to headline it and it has paid off so far with Bify Clyro last year.

They've only given 1 band a chance to step up to headline tho. Download & Reading have done it a lot more.

Yeah I am sure that in years to come that Sonisphere will do a similar thing to Download & Leeds because they know they have to try something new every year. So far Sonisphere has got Queen and Faith No More headlining and that could make an opputunity for another band that hasn't headlined any festival yet.

The trouble is, theres a difference between giving an up and coming band a break and booking a non headline band due to lack of better options.
I can see the later occuring and being dressed up as the former if I'm being honest. But see what happens.

Yeah I agree biffoire I mean the third headliner could be someone that has never headlined eg BFMV and A7X. I can not see A7X headlining because they did say that there not touring and BFMV are working on an album but you never know.

Probably nothing but Sonic Summer have announced Adam Lambert (without Queen) and Green Day.

I don't think the fact American bands aren't touring will mean they won't play. There's a general concensus in the States that European tours are toxic with the dangers of an economic meltdown meaning they don't want to invest in a full blown tour - forinstance Metallica saying they'll play earlier in the year and the scramble as all the European Sonisphere's got moved a month or two earlier. However a one off payment by festival (s) will still look attractive for a big act that can put either a festival tour or a single lucrative appearance together. This doesn't mean I think AX7 will play BTW.

I'm not saying any of the 3 are a poor booking individually, but combined every single one would be at the weaker end, which looks bad.

Yeah I know where your coming from but who knows I heard yesterday from Thrash Hits that Kiss are going to be the third headliners but I could of sworn they cancelled there tour this year.

Kiss looks unlikely as Gene's doing that Titans Of Rock tour in April apparently:

Gene Simmons, "The Devil" by Kiss. (AP)
Gene Simmons , bassist of Kiss , come to Lima on April 19. This was announced by the specialized web DeuceNews .
The show will take place on the esplanade of the Monumental and would be one of the first concert that Simmons offered in the world with Titans of Rock, his new super banda.
And because we say super banda will consist of legendary musicians who have joined groups like Metallica , Collective Soul , Def Leppard , Guns N 'Roses , among others.
Duff McKagan (Guns N 'Roses), Joe Elliot (Def Leppard), Gilby Clark (Guns N' Roses), Ed Roland (Collective Soul), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Matt Sorum (Guns N 'Roses), Jason Newsted (Metallica), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) and Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe) would be the members of this group.
As recalled, Gene Simons arrived in Peru in 2009 for a concert with the band Kiss. On that occasion, gave an interview to El Comercio that you can re-readhere.

I don't see how it makes Kiss unlikely? It's in April and it features people like Sebastian Bach, who are doing EU festivals in June/July...
