Couldn't get on with it TBH, it was all a bit too Hammer for my liking.

Going for drax's million factor sunblock, made from essence of devil and the blood of a thousand virgins. I seriously burn really easy, I have ginger friends that microwave more slowly than I do.

Heh..an ability to deal with sunshine is one of my very vew talents in life, it hasn't actually achieved anything more for me though.

It occurs to me however, that I have actually had painful sunburn, I had sunburnt shins and the backs of my knees at phoenix in '94 that was horrible.  Not sure that I complained about it though, in such days my main view on any ailment was that you could 'drink through it'

One of my friends who was converted to the church of glastonbury last year is of the red-headed variety and I was mightily impressed that he had not one complaint about the sun all weekend and proved to me that most clichés are more for comedy value than having any basis in reality.  He will be back this year, having learned the ropes and bringing more people to be converted (and he's also got reading tickets so has clearly got the bug)

That's true, I probably just need more practice to be honest, I don't leave the house nearly often enough, the worst I've ever been burnt was on my shins too funny enough, I could hardly walk, but you're right drink is the best pain killer.  

@camperman, I'm trying to cut down, my evil undead addiction to the red stuff tends to result in a lot of my relationships ending badly.

I second that, hope you get some good news. Don't really like to intrude, but is it just the discomfort/pain that would be preventing you from going or the nature of the condition itself?

Feeling much more upbeat today, bought myself a decent waterproof jacket, and couldn't care less about the weather anymore. Full of nervous energy - just want to be there, tent up, hat on, cider in hand!!

As a frequenter of 2004,2005 and 2007 (and 2010)- I feel pretty hardened to the mud now, hehe! It's amazing how many 'types' of mud you come to learn. I would say the sloshy stuff is probably the best - it's the knee deep hardening sticky cakey stuff that's the killer (2007). Let's hope it doesn't get that bad. Any advice to those new to the mud - take bin bags and camp up high! And I definately prefer the more clement weather to the scorcher of last year. Would be nice to have something in-between, which hopefully will be this one. The rain/mud although it's a pain in the arse, definately adds something to the atmosphere - Dunkirk spirit?

I'm particularly glum as I missed out on last year's Glasto mainly due to appathy from friends I usually go with. Last year's looked amazing being the 40th Anniversary with Muse playing, the World Cup and obviously the weather. I'll be absolutely gutted if this year's is a wash out after a two year wait.

I know this thread is probably not what people want to read the week before Glasto and people will say it's just as good when its wet, but it's plainly just not.

I suppose I just need cheering up.....

Muse were shite and it was a disgrace the football was shown. Think yourself lucky.

OK lets get real.............I have always enjoyed glastonbury whatever the weather, yes that includes the monsoon of 2005 when i got caught in the worst of it with a 3 year old and 2007 when it rainied all weekend, two kids that time but as Talk Talk said "life is what you make it"

Spindles - all the best i have also been having treatment for a bone pain thing and had my last session last Tuesday, this normally makes me feel crappy but i  will make it and if you can, so should you too..........

In 2005 during the rain i saw two girls in swim suits having a shower in the rain...now thats what its all about, making do with what you have.
there are many here who would give their right testical for a ticket no matter the weather!!
