I'm feeling a little glum today about this year's Glastonbury and the weather. Stupidly I read a weather report from Positive Weather Solutions who are often mentioned in the press as successfully predicting the weather, especially during the summer, more accurately than the MET Office.

Forecast

The forecast deteriorates for Glastonbury with the prospect now of rain on every day, some of it heavy and prolonged.  Temperatures will sit in the late teens, early twenties, and there is the possibility of thunderstorm activity.  All in all, a mud bath scenario seems increasingly likely, which will mean the ground will be very much needing its break in 2012.  This will be no repeat of 2010.

I'm particularly glum as I missed out on last year's Glasto mainly due to appathy from friends I usually go with. Last year's looked amazing being the 40th Anniversary with Muse playing, the World Cup and obviously the weather. I'll be absolutely gutted if this year's is a wash out after a two year wait.

I know this thread is probably not what people want to read the week before Glasto and people will say it's just as good when its wet, but it's plainly just not.

I suppose I just need cheering up.....

Cheer up. No sunburn. No sweating. No chafing around the groin. No oppressive heat sapping your energy.

Low 20s is a wonderful temperature.

And hopefully you're wrong about the mudbath.

Rain and mud do take the edge off a bit, but there's still fun to be had. Look at it this way - it's better than having no Glastonbury at all. Anyway, it might still just be overcast which would be good enough.

Don't know where the 'Positive' in their name comes from, they're giving by far the most negative forecast. Nobody really knows at this point but the general sort-of agreement is there will be some rain. But we're not talking a mudbath at the moment. Pack for rain but don't worry too much.

I blame the hippies and their 'rain dance'.

Also, post 500!

There's a 160 page thread here that has been going on since October 2010 and still no-one knows what the weather's going to be like.  Still 50/50, even after all this time.  Funny thing is I become obsessed with that thread in the run up to the festival, but on the Monday before the gates open, I suddenly don't seem to care anymore!  Que sera sera!

At least we'll expect bad weather if it happens. How sick you would be if you were told it'll be a scorcher and it turns into a mudbath? Just go prepared. But it really is too early to call.

Actually f**k it. Who cares? I'd much rather be at a washout Glasto than being sat at home on my couch.

GLASTO 2011!! BRING IT ON!!!

I've had some pre-glasto blues to say the least.

I've been off work for nearly 4 weeks following a medical problem, suffering constant pain and worrying about whether I would be healed in time and all the associated worries that this has brought with it.  I got my first proper night of sleep last night and for the first time didn't wake up feeling like I'd been assaulted with a bat, which is making me feel much more positive.  I've made changes to my arrangements so that, should I be attend it will be for a shorter time and I have an appointment with the hospital on Monday that will decide whether I am able to go and I will be making the decision on that advice and that alone, so wish me luck.

Positive Solution always give extreme predictions for big events or festivals, this is how they get in the newspapers. If they had a prediction like eveyone else (Sunshine with a few showers) then the newspapers would not care less about the weather..

Still way off any accuracy..

The BBC has had Heavy rain for where i live all week and at the most we've had a could of drizzly showers..

Its all to play for! Wait till monday, then you know what it will be on wednesday but still ealry for a sunday prediction.

Chin up

The weather forecast does not look as bad as 2007.  There are some high pressure areas on the map that will hopefully move in the direction of Glasto  :)  In 2007 the weather forecast showed a complete absence of high pressure areas
