I think it's one of the few cricisms I'd have of the booking policy, these acts, LM, Low Anthem and Fleet Foxes are definitely not suited to the Pyramid. I really can't understand the thinking behind it. Seems inevitable that these sorts of acts will fail.

I remember Regina Spektor doing quite well on the Pyrmaid in 2009 to my surprise though so it can happen but yeah I don't get the thinking behind it at all. Maybe it's just the organizers/bookers thinking 'this band are good and you lot should check them out?'

Agreed - as did Amadou et Mariam the same year. So it can be done!

Yeah that sort of tuneage needs to be on a smaller stage/tent.

IMO, Fleet Foxes are a very weak band, and putting them on the Pyramid was a bit misplaced. Felt bad for them.
I wasn't at Glastonbury then but I saw them at Hyde Park the following day and they were OK in front of what must have been a similar sized crowd. Maybe they had a bad day on the Pyramid.

I wasn’t at the gig, just commenting on reports and from experiences with similar-ish bands previously.

Works well for me as I'll use her slot *ahem* to get in position for Paul Simon.

I'm also concerned that this may be a problem for the Low Anthem

Im worried they will favour the 2nd album stuff over the Darwin stuff that are awesome!

Saw her play open air at Hop Farm last year and it really wasn't very good.

I'm not a huge fan, but it was definitely a "Rabbit in the headlights" moment.

I've barely listened to the 2nd, any good? The 1st was excellent

Really? I saw her at The Hop Farm in 2009 and she absolutely blew me (ahem) away, didn't seem to be nervous at all. Guess she's up and down in terms of her performance (ahem).

In Fleet Foxes defence, they played at the hottest, most humid time in 2009 - it was like watching a band in a laundrette - which didn't help either their performance or the restless atmosphere.

Aye, was there for that and thought the same.  She looked petrified!

I have mixed feelings here. I love her music and she was fantastic last year on the Park Stage but later saw her at Latitude on the main stage there and it seemed too much, still sounded good but it seemed to over awe her. Hoping she has learnt over last year and will play a blinding set!

I saw her at Latitude too, and it just seemeed that she is better suited to a tent where sound is contained. But she has a beautiful voice

Regina Spektor did a great job in 2009. It was early on the Friday if I recall.

All the more impressive given that it was raining for at least some of the set and she'd only just released a new album, which provided a lot of the songs for the set.

I think Marling will get on pretty well. I saw her on the park a few years back; that definitely suits her more.

Everyone was still dressed for mud and rain and it suddenly went boiling hot - it was weird - a launderette is a good description.

Never understand why they put these sort of acts on the Pyramid Stage. Its essentially a stadium sized slot.
Agreed. They do it quite a lot, too. Some acts are wasted on the Pyramid Stage when they'd be amazing on a smaller one.

Completely agree about The Low Anthem - saw them at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (part of the Southbank) a couple of months ago and it was lovely but certainly not suited to The Pyramid. Really intimate music in one of the least intimate spaces imaginable. I have pondered whether with the likes of them and Fleet Foxes being from abroad the agents don't really understand what theuy're agreeing to and just get dazzled by the idea (and money) of their artists playing the main stage at Glastonbury.

Anyway I'll go and see them in Avalon which hopefully will suit them much better.  They played a mix of the last two albums and some random stuff at the QEH.

Re: Fleet Foxes - still nowhere near as big but they were *much* better on the main stage at Primavera last month, joking that they'd be finished before the football etc.  And it sounded lush.
