Just curious as to what Ruck sacks people (more importantly men) are taking for there day bags?

Don't want to lug around a heavy bag all day or one that is going to be bulky even when empty i have a few cloth type ones but they probably wont last to long, mainly want one for keeping cans in for the first few hours of the day/afternoon.

Never been before and also hearing the lock ups are another good idea for storing essentials etc.

Any recommendations of a cheap lightweight ruck sack would be great also.

I've never felt the need to take a rucksack around with me.  Just some shorts/trousers with a few zipped pockets for my wallet/phone/baccy and whatnot, grab a can when i leave camp and i'm sorted.

Satchel bag

Tossing up between 2 at the moment, both army surplus

One is a czech bag with 3 inside pockets, each will easily take a 500ml bottle + room for other gubbins.

The other clams to be a chinese/PLA bag that can turn into a mini (very mini) rucksack. I used it the last 2 years.

Both have well attached handy rings so I can attach my rolled up raincoat/ground sheet.

Plus room for 500ml of rum, sunscreen, glasses case etc.

As I plan to make festivals a regular thing, I splashed out a bit on something that wuold last, opted for this one: http://www.amazon.co...6/dp/B00457X5Q0

I've had cheap bags before and always seem to manage to break them, either I snap the zips off, or the zips come apart and jam, or the plastic buckles break etc. etc. This bag is really well made, it's pretty rugged and I don't expect to have any similar problems with it.

Was going to go for this one, I prefer the look, but didn't want anything with too much leather on it just in case the weather gets a bit soggy: http://www.amazon.co...2/dp/B003GAMNBK

I thought some of the stuff in this ebay shop looked pretty stylish too: http://stores.ebay.c...d=p4634.c0.m322

I use the bags camping chairs come in, you can easily fit your phone, wallet, camera, cigs and 5 or 6 cans in there

Bumbags are never cool, but it's just far to convenient for me to care.
Booze in the bottle pockets (natch), coat/nibbles/bits/bobs in the main pocket and phone/money in the hip pockets. Rotatable for easy access in crowds, cooler in hot conditions and less restrictive than a rucksack for getting a groove on. Generally pretty sweet.
Still might ditch it for cargo pants in the evening though.

Last year I got a really cheap fold-away back pack out of Asda. It was good enough for carrying a jacket, toilet roll and a few cans about the site.

Sports soccer, annoying shop as it is, have a range of cheap karrimor rucksacks. I got one for £10 for glasto 09 and it did me 2 years. Will probably have a look there for this year or TK maxx...

this year i have a bum bag. the shame! although its kinda like a canvas utility belt before anyone goes imagining anything totally horrific. my husband has a man bag - a small across shoulder hemp bag. its black and doesnt look too girly, thankfully. then we have a normal size rucksack that we will share for jumpers, spare booze (im a student im totally skint, will buy some booze obv) toilet roll etc. that way we can wander off and not have to worry about purse, phone, tissues etc but still have the option of a jumper somewhere closer than the tent.

I've got a really nice addidas satchel, but I find they're annoying for my vigorous dancing style.

Last year I got a backpack from decathlon. £1.99 and it easily stashed a bottle of spirits, 4 cans, loo roll and my glasses case

Camelbak all the way! They may be pricey but I'll be buying a couple of cheap spare reservoirs that will be filled with various forms of alcohol, keeps it cool-Ish and leaves your hands free for throwing some shapes!

Another vote for the camelback. I was given one for my birthday 4 years ago and it's done a fair few festies since. I keep my reservoir water only as I find that chugging on that all day helps with dehydration when boozing.

Camelbak is the way forward. Just big enough to stuff an extra layer in if needed for later in the day.

Cargo shorts / trousers with big pockets, unless i'm carrying my camera kit bag (which goes in lockups when not in use)

canvas satchel

Posted Image

I saw John Peel carrying one at a festival in '94 and thought "I want one!", have had the same one ever since.  It doubles as a pillow and a tray but if overfilled the effect is ruined, carry just enough to get by and no more and it will serve you well, overfill it and it is like being pregnant at a gig.

Yeah I've got one of those army surplus canvas satchel things. Cheap and perfect really, rucksacks get in other peoples way. Normally I'd just stick all my crap in my girlfriends bag but I can't ask her to carry 4-5 cans around all day.
