Dear everyone

The storm has broken, the clouds are parting and there is a silver and rainbow tinged lining to forthcoming fun and frolics.

Basically, if you would like to join what will be a big party for one and all sometime on Thursday celebrating fun and friends (and cocktails!) pretty please could those interested make suggestions for the bars/venues that you can recall may be open on site and suitable for us descending on it/them (plural!) :D I have been having trouble trying to remember every single place and I cant find my programme from last year either!

Also start to think about a time we would like to meet. Would you like it to be an early evening into darkness lengthy affair or perhaps just meet at say 9pm to head to one particular bar and then find the dancing later?

Please note this is just for suggestions so that Joshuwarr and I can come to decision about how to sort this out.

Trying to make solid plans right now straight away wont work, so please get discussing and all will be revealed in the next 2 weeks. Please do not get knickers in a twist asking for location and time just yet.

B)

I 2nd what Lucy has said. Please please dont hold back on this. It would be great to have as many LGBT people as possible, as it seems that rounding up loads of straight people looking to have a laugh wont be an issue :)

Obviously we need to keep in mind that there are some, lets say, popular musical acts on thursday night but I'm sure you can spare some time aside from seeing Ms Dynamite ;)

Now now...lets not make this exclusive ;)

There will be no talk of people laughing, we will all be laughing together as people all out having a blinding time and up for a really big party...and possibly a little bit in homage to Gaga???  :P

Homage...I want to see everyone in nothing but Diamante Lobster and/or Yellow Telephone hats or else!!!

Only kidding. Get your thinking caps on though. A glitter flash or some silly sunnies will suffice.

As the Mother of a comfortable in her own skin, 20 year old gay daughter (who 'came out' to me aged 14) I applaud you. And whilst my daughter, sadly, won't be there this year  :( I'd like to think that others who may not be so confident, would have somewhere to go that would boost their self-esteem, and make them realise that they're not alone, they're NOT 'odd' or 'unusual', there are others just like them. Friendships can be built, and fun can be had in a safe environment, with other like-minded individuals, where they won't be judged or ridiculed, and don't have to pretend to be anything other than who they are.

Thankyou, ALL of you, that want to make this happen. I still find it sad though, that yet again, it has to be something hidden, so that a few, narrowminded individuals can't spoil it, but that's not your problem, the only concern you should have is that you enjoy every second of your time.

Have a WONDERFUL meet and an even more wonderful Glastonbury.

Much love
xxxx

Dunno if it will be open Thursday, but if it is, Vogue Fabrics.

I live just up the road from the actual Vogue Fabrics, and it's quite something I can tell you!

I think the facebook page is a really good idea, less chance of a repeat of last night.

I would make a case for it being a closed group for that reason, people can send the links and forward on to mates and on here, but people would have to be accepted before they can view and post on the site. That way the admins can check the facebook pages of those wanting to go and see if they are genuine.

I feel really dissappointed and sad that I even having to think this way, but to be honest I just think its sensible.

It appears to be secret currently purely because there may be hand written special invites/flyers created to this instead of it being posted here online, its got nothing to do with small minded individuals. I've got ideas to also maybe open the invite right up and tell the LGBT stalls in the Greenfields to promote it once the venues and locations are decided.

If this gets enough interest, what would people say/think to trying to contact a media group onsite to follow the party for a bit or is that going too far? Denz managed to sort this for the posh Friday meet last year (shame it was for the second in the day and only a couple of people came to that one compared to the well attended meet in the morning).

It doesnt have to be Gaga themed, its just a fun theme idea that I thought maybe suited this event (I cant find a plastic lobster for love nor money though!!!   ) Super stereotypical garb would be welcomed - the obligatory sparkly pink cowboy hat, feather boas, rainbow flags, your best Priscilla cossie(!) or just come as yourself.

Its going to be a big fun party whatever we wear :D

I swapped my pink hat for a leopard print hat in '09, so glittery things are better for me.

Josh, I would say go ahead and while you are at it, check out the Gay Glastonbury 2010 FB group. I found it today whilst faffing with google phrases. It had about 120 people in it.

If people could please just chuck some ideas about locations though as that is partly the reason for this thread, to get some sort of ideas in mind. I am pretty sure SL will be open but on what scale I cant remember or say. I know when we were bimbling through at about 8.30pm last year, some rooms were open but it wasnt in full flow.

The invite part comes (if we go with this option) with the concrete plans and the flyer will have the final details on it. Basically until we get to site, nothing can really be confirmed what is and what isnt open on Thursday evening. I am putting part of my Wednesday aside to specifically scout out venues/have a proper read of the programme to figure out what we could do.

I really need to find my 2010 programme...its got to be in the house somewhere!

Also, what would people like to do? Head to a large bar area eg. Rocket Lounge and then find a disco or some sorts? Or do some sort of a crawl to a variety of venues. This is a bit difficult without being on site despite the bar listings now being up.
