What's the deal with these? Heard a few folk saying cars get stopped and searched on the way there   any way of avoiding them or is it just your luck if you get stopped? and how thorough are these searches, sniffer dogs etc?

Na they do stop "random" cars.

And by random I mean cars that look like boy racers and are usually full with 5 people in them.

Think the car searches are pretty random. Couple of my mates were stopped on the way home from the festival last year and the police did a pretty thorough search, shoes and socks of etc. Dont know if they would take the time to do this on the way into the festival though?

Last year there was sniffer dogs at the entrance to the site, where you get given your wristbands.

The sniffer dogs are there to put the shits up people more than anything, you're gonna have to have a helluva stash on you for the dogs to go mental

Just put a big sign on your cars back window saying "we dont have any drugs". I mean, why would they stop you if you've already told them you're clean? Simples.

There are obviously gonna be exceptions to the rule but the dogs are put there mainly as a deterrent, particularly given the fact they have drug amnesty bins!!

Folk will get randomly stopped and searched, and some will get caught. But the vast majority of those caught or even stopped and searched will be nowt to do with the sniffer dogs

The people I seen getting nabbed at the entrance were actively avoiding the dogs ie looked dodgy as f*ck, never actually seen the dog 'pointing' somebody out. Was just nervous behaviour and undercovers nabbing them.

My friend got pointed out by the dog last year. He didn't have anything on him but he did say he had been around hash a few days before etc.

While he was in the tent someone else was caught by the dogs and he had hash on him.

Don't know what my advice is with regards to it to be honest. It certainly seems like a risky idea.

A guy spoke to my mate and I this week, said that he got searched last year. He was walking through the gates, and the dogs were going towards him, so started to swallow the drugs he had on him, and ran back to the carpark. After that, the next time he tried to go in he got strip-searched!   :o

I have heard a few things as well, such as dogs get tired and can only be used for x amount of time. That, and if you take drugs wrap them up in sausages. Then you can say 'nah mate your dug must be hungry' lol (quite possibly the riskiest thing ever)

Anytime this kinda conversation comes up - i'm always reminded of RockNess & Howard Marks telling the story in Howards End about importing Lions Shit into the country.
Sniffer dogs & police outside the house & the dog refusing to go inside: "Here pal, you's can go in if you want - but I can smell a f**king lion shit, I ain't going in there"

I never understood the dogs at festivals rumour. Surely the dogs would just be going constantly mental at each and every single person that goes past?

Not everyone takes drugs in haha. I think it's a very small percentage infact.

The dogs certainly did their job last year though.

This is exactly it, watch the coppers- they are looking at the punters for any clear sign of nerves.

As it happens im not taking anything with me this year, i have done in the past and never had any problem whatsoever-nor have any of my friends. Perhaps we've just been lucky...!
