Just thinking, Ive only been to Leeds T and Oxygen before where your restricted from carrying booze into the arena but I understand you can take booze around wherever you are? Is there any restrictions or would you be okay just taking a little back pack with 8 cans n a few sawnys to get through the day?

you could walk around with a pack of 24 if your heart desires and no one would bat an eyelid.  So long as it's for your/groups consumption and your not seen flogging them off for a profit then it will be fine... ;)

Wine or spirits keep the weight down a bit and have the desired effect. :P

If you prefer canned alcohol you could always nip back to your tent to refuel during the day. This works well if you're camping near or inbetween stages where you'll spend most of your time.

My record is 11 cans in the pockets of my cargo shorts, and both hands. I guess a backpack is slightly more conventional though.

But yeah, you could personally carry 8 crates into the festival on a cart and they'd be fine, and once you're in, you're in, so who's going to care what you're doing then.

My glasto schedule have become something along the lines of, fill up the bag with beers in the morning and wander around watching stuff until about 7pm. Then we all kind of re-group at the tent and stock up on more alcohol for the headliner and pre-headliner, meet back at the tent again post headliners and stock up on more beer/other things for the night somehow end up back at the tent, preferably before 6am, catch a couple of hours, repeat. We usually try to camp at the bottom of Pennards , its a good location, makes it easy to pop back to the tent, but its been so packed in recent years I think we might try somewhere else.

Yeh no one gives a flying hoot!!

Between our group of 3 we just carry 2 cooler backpacks and stash a few crates in the various lock ups so never far from a refill :)

First few days are nice and cool then you get used to warm cider!! Yummy!!

Yeh it was well worth the effort on the wednesday to wander around and put them in!

The staff at the lock ups are amazin and dont mind at all! A donation to charity and a can of strongbow keeps them sweet as well!

was a life saver especially the one on the right of the pyramid stage!

I've not really bothered in the past but you could carry what the hell you like - it's completely unrestricted.

This year however I'm taking a small back to carry a dozen or so tins but only on the occasions that we're likely to be bedded in front of a main stage for 2 or 3 acts on the bounce to avoid the crush at the bars.  The rest of the time I'll just buy my drinks on the hoof.

There is no arena at Glastonbury, it's like no other festival that you've ever been to!

you can bring as many as you want wherever you want pretty much im sure.

after previous years, Im only bringing down enough cans for the trip down and the first day. about 24-30, if even that. Mainly because I cant be arsed with hauling such a heavy bag down there through the different train stops and worst of all.....the trip to your camping field.

also cans are pretty minging after 2 days in a watm bag and lets face it, Brothers cider is just too irresistible in the baking heat!

Two years ago, I walked around like a dumb American, commenting on how amazing it is that people can walk around with backpacks full of booze at festivals, and everyone just handed me drinks.

Can I play the American Rookie card again in 2011 and drink for free all week?

I have invested in a camelpak-esque bag this year for carrying alcoholic drink around in - it carries 1.5 litres, and I'm pretty sure whilst I'm on a wander I won't drink that much spirit & mixer along with a stop or two at the cider bus, even if I do it's not that difficult to go back to the tent and restock. Like others have said Glasto is completely different to all other festivals, in so many ways. You'll have a blast.

I'm sure you'll get away with it.  I gave drink away all weekend in 2009 just because we'd brought loads and I was in such a good mood.

The only restrictions are those which are self imposed, and there's not a great deal of self imposing going on. Fill yer boots.
