"However, forecasters say the high temperatures could trigger heavy showers which could turn the festival into a mud bath."

Let's just ignore this sentence. NFRNFC

For some reason I'm very excited this morning, no reason in particular, just am! But who needs a reason ;)

Anyway, that little post has got me very excited - and thinking about my cool off options - last year I thought I would melt like Barbie. Although, I'm not plastic....

as long as the ground is as dry as it is right now, then downpours aren't too much of a problem.

In the really muddy years the ground was water-logged before the festival started. The main factor that makes things that bad is the state of the ground before the festival, rather than the rain during the festival.

If you think back a few years to that mega-thunderstorm on the Friday morning, while it did turn parts of the site into a mud bath and they stayed like that thru-out the weekend, there were other parts of the site which dried out enough so that sitting on the ground without needing to put something down first was possible.

This.

I randomly stumbled across bort's 2009 blog yesterday and you can really see the rate at which the site dried, with people sat down on the floor at the pyramid friday afternoon when it only stopped raining about midday/oneish.  Around pathways there was mud still on sunday, but mostly everything was fixed up and looking sharp pretty damn quick despite 1 heavy downpour and thunder storm Thursday evening and then persistent (not too heavy) rain for about 6 hours or so on Friday morning.

It would take some prolonged and heavy run, several times in the next 3 weeks to cause me any concern at this point.

33 degrees though? anyone else concerned that that's a bit too good?

I'd happily dial that down a bit... sunny, 25 degrees with a light breeze would suit me fine, I'm a bit nervous about the prospect of it being even hotter than last year!  B)

Where I live its clay soil, and its only after long spells of rain do we get really bad mud here. Its weird mud really, as when it does get soggy, its awful, but in long dry spells like we have the ground almost opens up where it cracks so much - hence why it can take a long time for the rain to take make any difference. In other words, as long as we don't have a long spell of the wet stuff in the run up to the festie, the ground should be ok even if we do have a passing downpour.

Mind you, it aint gonna rain, so my ramblings are garbage anyway  :P

09 whilst we had the odd wettening (ok so Thursday was a teeny bit soggy) and the going underfoot was a bit iffy at times, by 10am on Saturday it was totally dry underfoot again. There was the weirdest low lying mist across the whole site at 5am brought on by people literally squishing the wetness out from underfoot. I wore wellies to Rolf so I could get across from Pennards onto the Railway track where it still a bit deep...mistake...it was sweltering once we got to the Jazz Field.

A nice overcast dry 22 would be sufficient :)

i think we reached highs of around 31 last year so i really wouldnt want it any hotter, 25 degrees, sunshine and cloud would be perfect really - much as it is here in london today in fact :D

Yep, a mild 33 would be just fine thanks...for Wednesday and Thursday.

For the weekend, I prefer something in the mid 20s for standing in a field watching a gig, simply because you have to cover up when it gets intense, and 45 minutes stood facing in the same direction with the sun on your face or sun on your neck leads to lots of redness :)

Packing extra suncream, light cotton shirts and the veteran (and still looking crisp) sunhat.

We are human beings, the most advanced and adaptable lifeform on the planet, we should be capable of dealing with anything the weather throws at us.  I'd rather it threw insane sunshine at me than anything else.

If we do get mega sun my advice is this, do not forget suncream on your legs, worst festival sunburn ever was shins (ouch!) and the back of the knee (sick making feeling ouch!), if you are out and about sort you'll likely have toughened up the skin on arms, neck and face to cope but a few days in intense sun can really burn the legs.

Last year was wonderful for weather but I agree it was a little too much, however, if someone offered me exactly the same again for this years Glasto i'd snap their hands off. that over rain any day.

i'm too excited for words.

i do agree with this, plus OUCH to sunburnt legs... fortunately i'm an ankle length gypsy skirt kinda girl so no worries about that anymore... a hat is ESSENTIAL however as is remembering just to occasionally drink a bit of water - welfare had their hands well and truly full with cases of sunstroke and dehydration last year

yeah, i nearly added to the queue on the saturday when my body went a bit mental during the dead weather. thankfully i snapped out of it in time to walk away from the pyramid as shakira was coming on.

had a quick glance/perv at her though. you know, would've been rude not to.
