Supposedly B, but probably D in truth. f**k'em!
Getting oh so close now. I'm actually starting to fear the packing, hoping it's a minor blip before a fantastic festival.

C - I know a couple of folk who are going, but we've always just met up for a quick beer and then carried on doing our own thing.
The only thing bothering me is the actual camping. I've always tried to do my own thing during the day anyway, but not having anyone at 'camp' isn't sitting right in my head ...
Peace x

That's the only thing bugging me, not having people to have around at night for camping...but from what I hear everyone's cool as ice, so kind of looking forward to it

B, C and D here, but I am working for Shelter this year, so will be placed in a "team" of some description and camping with the rest of the volunteers. Solo is the only way to fly. I always end up going off on my own anyway. Other people WILL make you miss things with their dithering about in my experience.

There is a fair amount of CT who travel on their own but by the Tuesday are safely and happily camped up with the group of chums that gets ever bigger year on year as more and more solo flyers join the throng.
This exactly ! I am looking forward to seeing so many efestival friends at Glasto either at CT or at the Cider Bus, Meets etc ...

B & D last year C & D this year. Did try to get to Camp Triangle last year being my first year at Glasto and solo but although I arrived early Camp Triangle looked full so ended up in the Dairy Ground.
Hey I had a great time though best thing I done so I immediately decided I am coming back next year.
As someone already mentioned in the evening at your tent you could feel a little lonesome.
This year I am determined to meet up with you Camp triangle revellers have even bought a e-fest t shirt for Gods sake.
It sounds great and quite cool & I am so excited to meeting one & all at the tender age of 54.

Looks like I may be:
E - friend is too unwell to go.
I've wanted to do meet ups for ages now and CT so I reckon this is the year to do it. It's usually been that friends have wanted to do other things, so I'm looking forward to being free to make new friends and say hi to everyone.

looks like i'll hopefully joining in the CT fun this year after friends decided to be useless and boring. i thought i'd go what the heck.
so B&D for me.
looking forward to it solo, no hassle in arranging to meet up with people at specific times to see certain stuff. but would be good to be in camp triangle to have people to chat with and toodle around the late night areas with.
im a relaxed chap in my early twenties but happy too chat with anyone and everyone...see you all there.
cheers, Pete

None of the above...
BUT...
If anyone who is going on their own and would like some company please PM me, and we can arrange for you to meet our group. I mean it in the spirit of shared experience and meeting like-minded people who are trustworthy etc and our group are aged from around 25 - 41 and will be watching a wide range of stuff as well as doing a wide range of stuff.
Also, if anyone happens to pass the lock ups near the top of Dairy, if they just shout Pete very loudly one of my team will be there I'm sure. We are camping in the space to the left as you face the "serving hatch" of the lock up.
All welcome, not meaning to detract from the purpose of this thread but always feels nice to have an invitation, however it comes about!

I'm coming solo, I know some friends coming, but feel I'd benefit from making it a bit of a self retreat and meeting new people. So to find out about the CT and these threads is fantastic. I'm really looking forward to it!

My experience of going to a festival on my own (only tried it once) was one of extreme loneliness. Whilst I did speak to a few people, mainly whilst in line to get a drink, people were all in their own social groups and quickly returned to them leaving me on my own again. It was a smallish festival so I am sure lots of people got to recognise me & thought things like 'sad bugger, there he goes with his chair and brolly to sit on his own somewhere'
Is it just me or am I missing something in life?

Nah, it can sneak up on ya like that.
As someone holding down a full time job and a part time carer, for me it is nice to escape from the worries those bring, and just be. Glastonbury does that. There are people I would simply love to share it with, unfortunately too many of those are no longer amongst the living.
And sometimes, even at Glastonbury, that sneaks up on me and I'll have a little cry.

C for me and has been for the last 3 Glasto's. Personally I couldn't give a chuffing fart if people think 'sad bugger on her own' when they see me bimbling about on my todd - I prefer to think if it as being free and independent
As for camping on yer own either join CT with other Solo Flyers, or make sure you chat to your camping neighbours, the offer of a can of beer / help with their tent / cup of coffe in the morning goes a long way

Well I'm looking forward to meeting lots of other solo flyers at the CT.
I enjoy meeting new people, and as long as I know there are other people going alone I know we'll all be in the same boat!

I'm coming from Ireland alone. Kinda scared but think I'll have a good time! I have a number of friend's of my brothers who are going and I might give them a call a few days before and try and camp near them, but they aren't travelling with me.
Also to add- I go for reason A, ex boyfriend will also be around but hope not to bump into him (after our awkward flight there and before the one back)

Well, if you can, try to get to the Cider Bus on the Wednesday evening where you most certainly wont be alone for much longer. Check out the pinned thread for all the details of location and photos of faces to look for etc (it makes more sense going from page 1-11...tis a bit of a silly place after that!
)
Whilst it may appear a very busy and daunting area to head into on your own not knowing a soul, look for the clues - the big long fluoro yellow flag hanging/flying at the back of the area hopefully to the right of the white marquee beer tent, people wearing Efestival tshirts drinking cider and finally, white name stickers with the Dancing Man logo on and a handwritten name.
If you ask anyone with a nametag, ask them to point you in my direction and I will ensure you get introduced to lots of people.

Had to do a search for this thread but had to bump it because there appears to be a LOT of solo flyers this year. 3 more signed up to the forum just today!
And so to anyone new and looking to meet people who are coming to the fest alone for whatever reason, there are these options to consider if you want to meet and find people to hang with:
Come to the Cider Bus Meet on Wedneday evening from 6pm - try and find me (I'll be the lady giving out the handwritten name stickers) and I will introduce you to people galore
Camp, locate and visit or at least get the telephone list for Camp Triangle to have to the ability to find us if you feel lonely and want some company at any point - there's nearly always someone at base camp. We go out in big troop bimbles in the evening too.
There's a big party happening at the Snakepit on Thursday evening, keep an eye out for people wearing feather boas/silly sunglasses/Gaga-esque items of headgear.
There will be a second meet at the Cider Bus on Thursday evening too. There's also an Old Gits meet being organised too.
Friday, there is a group of people meeting at the Cider Bus at 11am.
And finally, there is a traditional spot where a fair sized group of us meet to watch Pyramid shows especially the God/Legend spots on Sunday (eg. Paul Simon this year). There are 4 large speaker sets hanging off cranes across the centre(ish) of the field, we stand to the left fencing of the one on the farthest right of the field (if looking at the Pyramid).
Dont think that going alone to the festival means you wont have as good a time than you would have had your mates been there with you. It's often better!
Hope to meet you and hope you have a great time.
PS these are just suggestions and options for you to consider if you defintely want to make efforts to find people in the same boat as you. Bimbling about on your own happy as Larry chatting to random strangers is just as good fun!
