Hadn't heard about this until now. Last year, or the year before, it sounded like he'd be a sure-fire Glasto booking, but it didn't materialise for some reason. I listened to a lot of his stuff and really got into it. Real shame. RIP.

Shit news this.
Was really hoping to see him last year when he seemed nailed on for a while and was gutted when he didn't appear.
I'm New Here was one of my favourite albums of 2010. He never lost it right up to the end.
A sad day...

RIP. I had the pleasure of seeing him at Coachella last year and he was amazing. I really hoped we would get to see him one day playing the West Holts Stage
RIP

Saw him on many occasions in the 80s, including at Glastonbury and his music has been a constant for me for the best part of 30 years. RIP.Trending Worldwide on Twitter now. This has, if anything, made listening to 'I'm new here' even more compelling now that it has turned out to be his last testament.
Very moving as he says that last line at the end of the album "God bless you mama, I thank you"
A sad sad day for music.

When he played JazzWorld late 90's he spent ages by the backstage gate talking to fans & signing autographs, really enjoying himself and delighting everyone. A great loss.
