Evening all,
Does anyone have any tips for smaller, lesser known punk acts that are playing this year?
Thanks!

Cut A Shine - hoedown, barn dance punk (no, really!) playing Club Dada, Thursday.

Punks Not Dad - at the Bandstand and no doubt playing in another tent!!

i concur with the other posters. punks not dads were fabulous last year, and i've not missed cut-a-shine for many a year! ok, i'd prefer nofx, anti-flag, king prawn, snuff and capdown, but, it's glasto and those recommendations do just fine with a couple of ciders

Inner Terrestrials are playing according to there website.
Not quite pure/'77 punk are the King Blues and Flogging Molly.

Flogging Molly are great fun for a jig, if a little samey after a while.
King Blues.......where to start. Having seen them in all manner of sweaty back rooms and tiny venues I can say without a doubt they are now a bunch of sellouts. Well that's my feelings anyway!
Punks not Dad however are awesome.

Gaslight Anthem. I think they're classed as punk anyway..

Pulled Apart By Horses are pretty punky:
Gaslight Anthem are not.

Possibly the wrong festival for a good selection of punk music, you're more likely to find folk/country/Irish music played very fast.

Do Jimmy Eat World count? I like them anyway.

No not really, although slightly more than Gaslight Anthem.

Firstly, hearty congratulations on seeing them before anyone else. Well done.
Secondly, what have they sold out from? Under The Fog was full of great pop songs with a strong political content, Punk & Poetry is full of great pop songs with a strong political content.

I know it's been said but the king blues, they are going to be a sure watch for me. I've liked all three of their albums

A couple of bandmembers left because it became more about the money than the message basically. I'll probably pop along, havent really listened to their stuff since the first album but as they're playing..

you could try finding '100% beefcock and the titsburster' who aren't listed anywhere yet but are definitely appearing at glastonbury, most likely in the Block9 area at some point. superb noise.

As soon as that happened I saw it as old mates falling out. All very ugly but happens all the time in rock n roll (and life). A huge barney about stuff rather than 'selling out'.
I have no idea what 'selling out' is anyway, does anyone? IME it's an accusation thrown around by people that are narked that their favourite bands have started selling records and no longer playing to 3 people each night. Wallys, in other words.

Sometimes it's appropriate where bands have cashed in their supposedly deeply held principles for greater renown/reward. May or may not be true in the case of the King Blues, I don't know enough about them. Most of the time when folk are accused of selling out it simply means 'become more popular' or 'changed their musical approach'. Both of which seem to be seriously frowned upon in certain circles. As soon as that happened I saw it as old mates falling out. All very ugly but happens all the time in rock n roll (and life).
