Last year Frank Turner was one of the stand out sets for me. One of the acts that I had only heard a bit of their stuff prior to the festival. Since the festival sets I have seen him a few times and got a few of his albums.

So really just wanting some recommendations of fairly small acts that I probably wont of heard much of their music.

Thanks

Assuming you haven't heard of them.

I would really recommend 'Those Dancing Days'. They are about and my partner and I saw them at the Thekla in Bristol a little while ago.
They are 5 young women from Sewden and they real fun and they have been playing with Belle and Sebastian.

Have a listen

Press the little cross in the corner to get rid of the poxy advert!

Those Dancing Days are an indie pop band from Nacka, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden. [2] Most frequently compared to Northern Soul and 1960s era girl-groups, the band formed in 2005 while the members were all still in school.[3] They are currently signed to Wichita Recordings. The band consists of five girls from Stockholm. Their name derives from the Led Zeppelin song "Dancing Days".[4]

Enjoy.

id say go and see darwin deez, not for the music like....although they have a few catchy pop songs (the recent new look advert)...but for their show. they were the highlight of green man for me last year, ahead of flaming lips! they do little dance routines inbetween songs. this is what they came out to...

Ed Sheeran has a similar accoustic style. Very hotly tipped for the coming year - Playing Croisant Neuf on Friday or Saturday. Has a very varied catalouge but this is one of my favs.

If OP hadn't heard of Frank Turner before last year it wouldn't be a surprise if he hadn't heard of Gaslight?

Seeing both of these on Monday at Dot to Dot festival so will give my opinions then. I've heard Darwin Deez is good live so was on the cards anyway.

In between the two I'm seeing The Naked and the Famous aswell.

Seeing Hurts for headliners as missus wants to, but they're not really my thing.  Might shoot off and see We Are Scientists.

Worst thing I'm gutted about is Guillemots are on at 12-1, which would usually be good but working the Tuesday morning and have to get back from Manchester afterwards so got to sacrifice them :(

They are playing aswell and are pretty good, as enjoyed them when I saw them last year, but clash with Darwin Deez on Monday so sacrificed.

I agree with this. And also if you've never heard of City and Colour then I very highly recommend listening to him. Not exactly a small act, but isn't a massive act either.

I'd heard of Frank Turner, just not listened to extensive amounts of his stuff and never seen him live before.

Gaslight Anthem are one of my definitely see acts already for this year. Will check out the other suggestions. Thanks

I liked what I hard of them on the radio, but was a bit disappointed by his vocals on Jools the other night. Will try and give them a listen, though.

What about Cage The Elephant ?
