last year we took some disposable bbqs and some meat with us, sausages, bacon etc all that burgers and had them in the coolbox with ice, yea obviously the ice turned to water [pretty sharpish

I was thinking maybe this year, freeze some of the meat? so that even if the weathers as good as last year it lasts a bit longer, some just in ice to use first day/2 then freeze some and it should last for a few more days? not really sure how long it would last in a coolbox frozen in last years weather

last year we took a plastic box lined with a space blanket, lined the bottom with 1l bottles of frozen water. froze bacon, sausages, bread and rolls, also butter and frozen oj all inside of a cheap £1 insulated shopping bag, another row of frozen 1l waters, then a few packs of fresh bacon, sausage etc. covered over with space blanket, when got to camp put a few bottles of the frozen water in a bucket of water, and chucked some beers in. beer stayed cool all weekend, and the frozen stuff was just beginning to thaw on saturday. we went Tuesday, so that was pretty good going I thought. would much rather spend fifteen mins making a few bacon sarnies of a morning than forking out a fortune over the week. £3 frying pan from Tesco, and one of those mini gas burners that clips onto the canisters for two quid off ebay. meant could have a cuppa in the am with it too (kettle from proper job was £3)

MamaJojo yea exactly, cheaper and convenient ,

I just was';t sure how much to freeze, like going down weds, so wes/thurs/ri/sat/sun - prob can't take enough for all the days regardless of weather?

Freeze some then just keep some chilled, if i had some say fresh bacon, and like sausages etc how long would it be ok for if it was just chilled with some frozen water uner it or something?

We did same with a tesco bag for life and space blankets last year.  Frozen water/decanted spirits bottles bottom layer, frozen meat second layer, beers on top of that.  We bbq'd on thurs afternoon and it was spectacularly delicious.

This year I'm planning to take more as that one bbq was amazing, but I want to do it more than once.

My home made spaceblanket coolbag still had 2 cans of icey cold beer on monday morning, which I was no longer interested in and happily assisted a drunk friend in keeping her buzz going :)

The Ice thread has very extensive information about coolboxes and how to pack them. Basic rule, get a good cool box.

Along with the trolley cemetery that lines the walkways from the Ped Gates, the other item you see in abundance are those cheap blue cool boxes with shite handles from the supermarkets.

We take bacon and sausages all frozen and wrapped in foil in a cool bag. We went on Wednesday last year and even in that heat, we still had stuff that was Ok for breakfast on Sunday morning!

To be fair though it lasted better than previous years, and I think that's because we were staying in a hotel for a couple of days before Glastonbury and bought the stuff on the Tuesday and asked to hotel to freeze it for us. I think the industrial freezing was a bit more effective.

On the other hand it may have been because we took more stuff because of my mum being with us. The more frozen stuff you have, the more it will keep itself cold.

Usually are able to use our frozen stuff till Friday or maybe Saturday, and then we move on to those little tins of bangers and beans.

We do always take eggs as well and I am sure that one year we will find a way to get them all on site without breaking any!

we had three or four large packs of frozen bacon, 2 frozen loaves of bread, frozen rolls, and then the same again fresh. 6 ice bottles in the bottom, layer of frozen stuff then layer of bottles layer of fresh stuff. even took spreadable butter that stayed cold, keep it inside tent in shade- will be good for at least 4 days
