Great pic but...there's nothing like seeing it for yourself the first time. For me taking in the site at night (and in person of course!) blows me away more. The twinkling of the lights far in the distance gives the impression of it being even more immense again.
I'm so excited......

I know it doesn't quite do it justice.
Remember, if you do climb up the flagtopia hill, no turning round or looking back until you get to the top!

My favourite view though is late at night from where we camp (Wicket Grounds area). Looking across the valkey tom the flickering lights from campfires on the other side of the festival, seeing the snake like string on street lights along the pathways leading up to the park. It's a great view and quite emotional at times.

Weird....when I put it on top of Bristol it made Glasto look huge, but when I put it on top of my shitty home town (Abingdon, Oxon) it looked quite small...

Yeh if you check out http://www.glastoearth.com/ or the video below you realise that the BBC is only showing the fence and main part. It's twice the size really - a massive operation! It's huuuuuuuuugge, but fantastic!
With GlastoEarth you can also see in the extras the size of the festival over the years and how it's expanded too.

Having been a newbie myself just 2 years ago I have the pleasure of feeling like a veteran this year as my 18 year old daughter is coming for the first time.
I can't wait to see her face when she sees it for herself - she's had to listen to me banging on about it enough!!

Just overlayed it on where I was brought up which happens to be a dairy farm in the West of Scotland. Covers most of what is my brother's farm and the neighbouring village. Must try and persuade my brother to stage a festival. I reckon it would be a fantastic location - only 9 miles from Glasgow city centre with great transport links.

It's about the same size as my town but only 22,000 people stay here!
It feels soooo much bigger though, think it's down to the fact I drive about at home so getting the distance from the John Peel stage to Trash City takes me a few minutes where as at Glastonbury it takes ages and even longer in crowds or mud.

You can see my tent on that vid at about 2 min 24 sec. It was next to them nobs massive gazzebo that they just left behind (must have cost em hundreds of notes as well, love the farm didn't apply to them, shame)
If you haven't been before you may be shocked at the amount of disposable income some people have, grrrrr

To my mind, that only tells half the story. OK, the Glasto "footprint" is large, and overlays a substantial part of my home town on that map. But if you compare the populations, then you'd be looking at a massively bigger area. Not sure what the total number of temporary residents is, but certainly greater than 200,000, which makes us pretty high up in this list.
