Hey Guys,
I was super-excited when I got a ticket for Glasto.....I've always wanted to go and I would be big into more alternative artists and not the bog standard mainstream but I have to express my bitter disappointment when I saw the lineup......
COLDPLAY, BEYONCE, U2, PAULO NUTINI, wtf.....
I am just praying it is not the "FINAL" lineup and they throw in a few more good bands....what about the following, who seem to be on the festival trail but not at Glasto....
Arcade Fire, The National, Editors, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Interpol, Beirut, ????
or
The XX, Beady Eye, Ray Davies, Hot Chip, Gorrilaz, Super Stevie Wonder (again?), Midlake, Beach House, The Decemberists, Dev Banhart...
I'm just hoping.......but fear I'll have to change my frame of mind.....
What's your thoughts guys....I said it to my mates last week and they were saying they thought the exact same.....Oxegen in Ireland / T in the Park seems to have a better lineup....

I agree with OP. I was distraught when I saw they had BB King but no Beady Eye.

I felt the same when I saw Bodger and Badger aren't on,....
Zingzillas though......
I'm guessing you'd like them?

Having a 'meh' year with the lineup allows for one to investigate so much more.

all of the bands you have mentioned have already played glastonbury. most of them played last year. I don't think the lineup is great this year but I'm putting some effort in to learn some new bands. There's a lot of crap playing but so far this year I've discovered 5 or 6 new bands that I want to see.
There's some bands that should be playing and I can't understand myself why they aren't

I think I share dirty_dog's opinion, I'm a little disappointed in contrast with the last few years, but that in no way means I'm going to have a worse time.
I think this year's line-up has inspired me to take a more active approach with festivals, by which I mean using it as a place to discover new artists as well as seeing the people I really love and have wanted to see for yonks.
I used to go to festivals and see whoever I really wanted to see, then maybe only check out 2 or 3 bands I'd not heard (I'm sure others are guilty of this - but, each to their own if you enjoy it that way).
Last year I saw a fair few new bands I'd not heard of - Tunng for example after watching the bees, with a nice pint of cider
I did the same at Big Chill as the line-up wasn't my taste at all - or so I thought - but I discovered loads of new artists I love now.
I've so far discovered about 8 or 9 artists that I'll be watching this year at the fest as long as all goes to plan.
Otherwise, I'll just be getting cained and soaking up the atmosphere, because to be honest I always remember those bits WAY more than any of the music parts, which only really stand out if something funny's going on in the crowd, or whether I really do connect with the music.

I think you should look further down the list than the headliners, there's always plenty of good stuff going on somewhere. It's crazy to compare it to other festivals, use those opportunities to go and explore a different stage or area

Yeh I agree with OP. This year's lineup is total tripe, even worse than last years which was f**king terrible. The continued absence of Liam Gallagher is really the deal breaker for me. Can I still get a refund? Much better to watch it on telly anyway, better sound and picture quality and ASDA Smartprice Lager is much cheaper than that real ale crap they rip you off with at these things. I might go to Leeds instead, cos my mate mugged some tickets off someone the other day and my crack dealer lives close by.
