This'll be my fourth Leeds festival this year but the first time I've not been driven down by some generous soul. Me and my pal are going to get a train from Glasgow to Leeds on the Wednesday (early entry), but we're wondering where to go from there?

How much would a taxi between the two of us cost to the site (or with more people, if we can join up with 2 other folk, or if a taxi is even possible), or alternatively, what the deal is with the shuttle buses? Are they next to the station? How much do they cost? Do you need to book them beforehand? How frequent are they?

Thanks for any help  :)

We get the train down from Glasgow every year. We'll no doubt be on the same train as you as we'll be getting the first train on the Wednesday morning. If it's like the last few years it goes from Glasgow to Carlisle, you change at Carlisle then a train to Leeds.

Once you arrive at Leeds train station there'll be loads of folk going to the fest, follow the crowd or ask someone and you can get a shuttle bus, it's about £10 return which you pay once you get there. The queues will be pretty big but they move pretty fast as there's plenty of buses so I would say that's probably your best bet.

I do think there's a taxi rank nearby if that's what you want to do and I'm sure you could get folk to share.:)

Ah, thanks a lot, that's cleared everything up. Was hoping the buses would work like that as getting a taxi did sound less convenient and more expensive, can't argue with a tenner return either!  :)

Would you say it's cheaper travelling from Edinburgh or Glasgow to Leeds by train? I'm just going down for the Muse day

I'm from Leeds, so i've never used the shuttle buses, but the taxi's are just outside, if you walk past burger king (past boots & WH smiths) you'll see it, i don't think their that much though, but not promising anything

Don't think they'll be much difference in price but we got a train from Edinburgh in 2007 and it was a direct train to Leeds, don't know if they still do that though.
