I along with a number within our reasonably large group have been thinking of making a move away from our usual pitch up on Hawkwell by the tree. As a few of the team are arriving by and leaving by bus they have suggested a pitch near Gate A but in between that and the J P tent, some want to stay put but I on the other hand, with my wife and a couple of others want a total move and are more focused on up by the park and Dairy Ground or surrounding area, due to the fact there seems to be more to do in the surrounding areas.Anyone got any feedback on either of these, such as length of time to walk to Park area from the bus drop off and Gate A etc?
All feedback will be welcome.
Cheers

we usually camp on the border of park home and dairy and I can tell you from previous experience it is a lovely spot. short walk to the stone circle, park and other stage, proba ly fifteen minutes ambling along to the pyramid, bit of a trek to shangri la. have no complaints though, it's served us well the past few years

What she said. It's a bit quieter and less cramped than a lot of the fields too.

Camped in Dairy , brilliant spot didn't ever feel to far away from the action and of course fairly close to the park
Was quite a nice spot except our bit got pretty cramped and people started camping in the fire lanes (Which we had based ourselves off so was bit of a nightmare getting to the tent) but other than lovely bit of camping area.

Dairy ground is getting busier every year - especially as they closed Paines for crew camping last year. About 5am Thursday morning the stewards started allowing people to camp in the fire lanes because it was so packed, and then came back at about 10am and tried to get them all to move! This part of the site it a good place to camp, close enough to the railway track to be an easy hop to nearly nearly everywhere, friendly enough in the day, quiet enough at night, and nice and flatish without being a a flood plain like Oxlers of Holts, but it is becoming the worst kept secret on site!

I thought it was weird that no one had noticed people had been setting in the firelanes!

I went and stuck up for the people camped in the fire lane because I had been woken up by the stewards saying to people "just camp on the path - the whole site is packed". New arrivals were actually argiung with them at the time saying "but someone's going to come tomorrow and tell us to move" ...and they were right! When I went over and told the stewards that people had been told to camp there, others around us joined in, and then the stewards looked fummoxed and said they would go and check and "it sounded like someone could be in trouble". No-one came back and bothered them again.
We had deliberately camped only one tent in from the fire lane because my mum was due to join us on the Friday and is nearly 70 so I didn't want her to have to negotiate loads of guy ropes to get to the tent. I was really worried when I got up and saw the maze the field had become! Luckily - I completely underestimated her and she had no trouble at all!

I have camped at very top of Dairy Fields for last three years, bit of a hike from Gate D,its got real good views all over the site, last year was the busiest i had ever seen it,got a bit to busy there by Thursday night. people seemed to have discovered what a good spot it is. I may look for someplace else this year, not bothered on a long walk, just a bit of space and a little quiet at night...Its my age. Doubt i will find it though..

We camped in Dairy last year. Superb spot but I'd imagine a bit of hike from the bus drop off.
We could hear Thom Yorke while chillin at our tent which prompted a bit of a mad dash!

this is where we normally go - just into park home -

By half nine (hour and a half after gates open) it was still pretty clear

by afternoon was like this:

but tents not so tightly packed that it was a struggle to walk through. Also the fence was pretty handy for making things, including a shower!!

hahaha - a mate had asked where we camped last year, it was on my FB, but I thought because of my folder settings i wouldn't be able to link it, so I took a pic with my phone and then uploaded it to photobucket
(I think)....bloody hell even I'm confused now

Loving your shower tent idea!!!! How did you construct that?

We camped near the lock ups just the other side of the fence from the big house. Our friends always camp here but it was the first time we had. It is a helluva hike to Shangri La etc but really good for commutes to Dance, Other, Glade, Stone Circle and of course Park.
It's very chilled, and where were is such a good spot it seems too quiet at times so this year I've insisted we camp nearer the path!
Liked it a lot, and will go there again, and it's got to be good for me to give up our old spot near the flushing toilets for those middle of the night trips!

We camped there last year, it was my first Glasto so can't compare to elsewhere, but we liked it. Very handy for the Park, we tended to hang out there the most late at night as a result and often went to the silent disco for a dance and the stone circle.

made a frame with bamboo sticks I bought for a few quid in morrisons, gaffa taped up like this:

clip to tarp to it with clothes pegs and taped it to the fence, which was also handy for hanging the shower from. It looked a bit healthier than that at first, by by the saturday we'd have so many showers in it (cos it was so hot) that it was starting to look a little sorry for itself!!

Still beats queueing for the showers! Fab idea!!!!!!

Dairy ground is the way to go.
Bit of a trek when u first arrive with all your gear but it's pretty quiet and not too much of a walk to stages.
