I think there should be a shy folks thread. Every year there are loads of people that post here after glasto, wishing that they had wandered over and said hello at the cider bus but were too shy at the time.  Perhaps if all the shy folk get to know each other on here first, then maybe arrange to meet pre-bus so that they can descend on the bus as a group, it would make it less daunting.  Or am I just putting another cog in the wheel and the shyness meet will be poorly attended due to shyness

I know it's easy to say now, but there really is no need to be shy at the bus. Most people don't know each other so the burden of awkwardness is a shared one.  Getting blind drunk helps too :)

As said earlier on the thread, one of the best ways to incite conversation and beat the shyness bug is to get an efestivals tshirt and stand around the other people in efest tshirts :)

I've twice gone along to the meets at the Cider Bus at the times advertised but I can never tell who is from e-festivals. Subsequently I have never met anyone yet.

I would love to come along on the Thursday meet this year. Will there be people wearing t-shirts or can someone bring a sign of some sort?

Thanks

That's not a bad idea. The annual Singles thread usually gets folk chatting to each other, why not make it the Shy Folk thread instead :D ....toddles off to set it up...please do drop by and say hello and introduce yourself.

Dofs cap :D

@Crispy Red - People with white name labels on are usually the ones to try and say hello to. Not everyone wears their Efest tee and it can be a confusing crush but from 6pm without fail there are a LOT of Efesters in the area, usually near the back of the grass area, to the right of the beer bar, also in front of that area, congregating around the concrete benches and then maybe, if we are lucky again this year, congregating around homemade booze :D

I love the efest meeting on the Wednesday. To all those shy people.....

(I kind of understand, my first meeting I had my then GF now wife, and friends hover close by so I could make a quick withdrawal. - there was no need)

there is nothing to be afraid of. Think, you've been looking forward to this day for ages, what could be better than an alcoholic beverage of your choice mixed with the kind of company that loves talking about Glastonbury.

Really, it's a fantastic atmosphere. I can't wait

I am going to try and make it this year - was there in 09 and it was great but last year was a bit dead after the 5 hour que to get in so just bimbled off on my own and ended up watching a drumming group practising and by the time i felt human again it was quite late felt a little bit shy.

Anyone able to blow up the Glasto map around the Cider Bus area and post on here? Then X marks where we were in 10, 09, 08 etc. Which'll give a general idea of where we tend to hang.

Plus the occasional person can't find the cider bus....

Nice one VC, but is it possible to seriously zoom in on the cider bus area? With the regular bar, the toilets etc all in the display?

Maybe needs a bird's-eye photo of the area?

It doesnt even need that, just draw a fairly simple map, take picture, post. Give me a few minutes ok? :-)

Wednesday cider bus meet is one of the Glastonbury highlights. Me and my mates are looking forward to our fourth one
I'd encourage anyone who hasn't been to one to come along. Its the sort of atmosphere where everyone talks to anyone so don't be shy.

Doesn't really work but is a nice shot. But I can see the bar (white, LHS) and the bogs (white/blue, lower LHS).  The meet is generally to the left of that bar.

Not seen the Pyramid Stage at quite this angle and depth  :)
