2008 - reasonable, some rain but was a pleasent enough. 6/10
2009 - better than previous year, the thunder storm at the end was superb though haha 7/10
2010 - far too f*cking hot, a few degrees less or some breeze would have made it 10/10 alas it gets 6/10 for me

For 2011 I would like 23'C and it shall get 10/10

2010 was my first year. Clearly it was a good omen so my attending this year will result in the same weather.

I was also carrying the traditional lucky 4 fingered Kit Kat which has resulted in good weather whenever taken to a festival.

Not the same Kit Kat by the way. That would be silly.

the rain at the event is only one factor - its the build up that screws things up so if its been pouring it down for weeks you know what its going to be like.

I do recall that 98/07 was two wet years as well but the mud was bugger all compared to 85.

from memory only two years came close for mud but I only look at rain as a minor inconvenience.

Clearly the work they have done to put in proper drainage is working its only when you compare it to Latitude that you can see what a difference the ground makes { its very rare to see any mud at Latitude due to its natural drainage }

I remember the floods but lucky enough the crew campsite was well away from the flood plains although I do recall using a boat one year to inspect one of the beer tents { that used to be in the area called lower mead { or close }} - the Tent manager was a extreme optimist and he believed the water would drain away - well it did but not during the event - this was also the year the WBC Overspill campsite { there was no pun intended } was flooded out - don't have a clue where that was all I know was we had to move the staff to camping inside two of our marquees tents - one mystery that I have never been able to find out is where the boat came from -

i don't have any images as I was not risking my SLR in a unsteady boat but the thing that will stick in my head is this - you have to imagine the beer Tent was flooded and the water was just under the Beer counter { so had to be at least four feet deep } - it just looked as if we had pitched the beer tent in the middle of the lake - we rowed in had a look around and then rowed to the edge of the lake - as we were pulling the boat out two Punters walked up and asked ' Is the Bar open Yet ? ' - at first I thought they were taking the piss but I think it was a genuine question - I told them to come back later  and had to be in the evening I was getting a lift in one of the WBC Security landrover's when I spotted the same two Punters - the lake had gone down a bit but still it was flooded up to forty feet away - and there was the two Punters standing at the edge - anyway asked the driver to pull up - I asked them what they were doing and they said ' well you told us to come back later ' - well I had to give them a lift and we dropped them at one of the bars { that was not flooded } - they were chuffed to get a lift in a landrover - I would have bought them a drink but we got a call to go to the Guest tent { back stage compound } so had to shot off - I would love to have found out why they were wanting to go into that beer tent but never did see them again.

I think it was 2005 but I may be wrong as they all tend to merge into one.

image is from 2005 and is the John peel stage { or was renamed the John peel stage }

happy days - anyone who has never experienced a really muddy or flooded Glastonbury has this to look forward to

Ha, I think I may have seen you in the boat, as I can clearly remember laughing and saying to a friend " who the hell brings a boat to Glastonbury". :lol:

Seeing the boat and just the very tops of tents in puddles of water are my defining memories of 05 for me.

2005 - Muddy! especially in Pennards!  :o but warm mostly.
2007 - The most god awful experience of my life was watching The Who on the Pyramid in rain coming in sideways whilst 7 months preggers.
2008 - The weather in Manchester was good when I was in a hotel watching Elbow on the sundown set and crying cos I wasn't there. (Preggers again!)
2009 - A bit damp on occasion with a big storm right overhead if i remember rightly....warm though and mainl dry!
2010 - Fookin amazing! However a bit too hot at times when you have no shade to get out of the sun.
2011 - Just as good as 2010 with the odd little shower to keep the dust down and stop you from getting black bogies! Ha ha ha ! (You saw it here first!)

2005 was my first year and it was carnage! Granted the weather was nice before/after the flood but the flood was epic. I remember walking from the pyramid post The Killers set to catch Chemical Brothers DJ set and nearly drowned in a sea of mud/water up to my middle... madness :)

2007 was pretty awful too but in my mind I'd survived the 2005 carnage so anything else was great!

2010 was bliss... bring on this year. Good times :)

I'd take 2010 again looking at those mud pics - even though it felt so hot at the time!

You may or may not have spotted me because I know that bar was inspected several times - the best bit you could not see - around the back of the bar is a area where all the pumps and coolers are stored { image is from Reading but you get the idea }

http://www.wbc-team....ng-2007-23.html

http://www.wbc-team....ng-2007-32.html

there was also a few staff toilets and a portacabin - even although the Bar was Closed we still had to have Security as all the bevy was all locked away in the back - we rowed into the front and then came back out again and rowed around the back - the Security Guard cracked me up as he wanted to know what to write in his incident book - as we were chatting one of the staff toilets floated out of the gate so we had to grab it and tow it back .

I know the WBC lost a fortune on that event and it took years to repay what was lost - although people assume Bars are insured for Bad weather the premiums are so high and they have lots of get out clauses that in the end its not worth it .

The WBC do learn by their mistakes hence why a bar has not been placed in that area since 2005.
