09 Very hot, threat of storms did little damage and cooled things down nicely. Rain late on the last night
10 Hottest I've been to, sometimes too hot, and it made it difficult to get drunk. Night time was warm though, for a change.
03 Hot permanently, only a few light showers on the Sunday. Minus a point though for 'sunstroke' on the last day
99 Warm, sunny, bit of cloud, don't remember any rain.
02 Cloudy mainly but also dry, apart from rain on Sunday? Probably the most comfortable weather!
05 Apart from the horrendous rain Friday morning, causing terrible mud and ruining the ground, great weather! Sunday especially
04 Warm dry start but rain made the site dark and muddy. Some decent weather in between.
97 Worst start to a festival I've ever been to. Torrential rain, windy and freezing, with lots of mud, but the rain stopped at least.
98 Similar but the rain seemed to last longer and it was colder.
07 The pits.

95 - Blisteringly hot
97 - Never seen mud like it and wasn't prepared at all. Only had a paid of Adidas campus and a pair of jeans to get through that ordeal and slept in hay cos my tent flooded.
99 - So hot
2002 - Hot again in parts but very nice with spots of rain on the Sunday that were needed.
2007 - Horrible. Very prepared but rain 24/7 isn't very fun
2008 - Feared the worst when it tipped down on Thursday but one welly day was required before it was fine again
2009 - That thunderstorm on the night jacko died wasn't needed and the heat the next two days meant wellies were hurt. Still, it was ok by Saturday night and held out again
2010 - Don't need to say much here. Magnifico.

I really wish I'd experienced 95. Come 99 I was beginning to wonder if it'd ever be hot and sunny there again.

2008 - My first, pissing it down on the Thursday evening dampened the atmosphere (literally) as everyone worried it might turn in to a repeat of 2007 or 2005, but, apart from intermitent showers, weather improved enough by the Friday afternoon to make it enjoyable. Saturday was a glorious day.
2009 - Prob best overall for weather. Great thunderstorm on the Thursday evening, watching the beautiful lightning. Heavy shower on the Friday morning, after that glorious sunshine, but not too hot. We'd left before the heavens opened on the Sunday night.
2010 - Glorious weather, although was slightly too hot, especially on the Saturday. It's crazy when people start cheering the clouds.
2011 - No rain, but nice cloud cover at night (to keep us warm), clouds breaking up just before dawn and reappearing before 8am (to allow us to view amazing sunrise), clouds during the morning (to let us sleep in our tents a little longer), disappearing by 11am, with occasional rolling cloud to give us a little shade. (OK, slightly longer request than No Rain, No Compromise)

2008 - nice and dry for most the festival, hot during the days but quickly cooled off at night
2009 - warm for most of the festival, couple of scorching days. Bit of rain on the wed/thurs (I forget which) and annoying a massive storm as we were packing away the tent.
2005 - more water at Glasto than in the sea - but boiling hot straight afterwards. really enjoyed it despite no wellies.
2007 - I would rather die than experience that again.

2010 fantastic - although did end up sunburnt!
2009 lovely - rain at start and end, but nice weather in between
2007 horrific - 100% rain, got quite depressing after a few days

2010 - You could sit down ANYWHERE you wanted
I had never had this experience before. Although I'm a ginger and pre 3pm weather could not be enjoyed...
2009 - It was nice!
2008 - Think we just had a bit of sun, but because of 2007's weather I think everyone was just tired and wanted sunshine.
2007 - Awful. After seeing what its like in the sun I praying this doesnt happen again.

I survived 85 the real ' year of the mud ' even some of the tractors got stuck in the mud - don't listen to me - even Michael Eavis agrees it was of the muddiest there has ever been.
just trying to get from the Pyramid stage to the acoustic stage was like a SAS Assault course
You will find very few photos because this was before mobile phones and only a Nutter would risk pulling out a camera.
the image below is one of the less muddy areas as by then people had just given up trying to cross over the site
It was that year that I decided I would give up camping in the normal area as most of the stuff had to be tossed away but it took me years to get into the WBC and I have been with them ever since.
found this little report about it -

85 sounds horrendous. How did the rain compare to 98 and 07?

I've been to the last six festivals. As many of you will know, last year was the only one of those with no rain whatsoever (I honestly thought that day might never arrive)
2005 was the year of the "great flood" but was actually not too bad. The weather before and after the storm was great.
I don't actually remember 2007 with too much venom. The forecast was poor and it rained a lot; I think I was used to it by then.
I don't think any of the festivals since have been that bad. Last year was great. Would happily take that every year from now on.

1999 - Only rained whilst Travis were on - fair enough really.
2005 - Agree that before and after rain it was lovely, but didn't have any clothes or a tent immediately after so does make that one stick out as being bad!
2008 - Bad on the Thursday night, but cleared up nice.
2009 - Really nice as far as I remember, can't remember any rain until we got back to the car on the Sunday night around 12 - 1am and it started like a monsoon. Oh how we laughed at the thought of our friends who were all sat at the stone circle. We did rescue a guy who was lost and had a t shirt and jeans on and helped him find his mates, so we're not complete b'stards.
2010 - Have to say it was too hot. Didn't go anywhere apart from the shade at the Glade until 5pm, didn't want to get drunk either (very strange). Usual times are to bed somewhere between 4am and 8am, and up at 10am to 12pm. I was in bed at 2am every night except one and it was too hot to sleep after 7.30am in the tent, so although I shouldn't moan about it, I want it a little cooler to enable normal late night shenanigans this year.

Are you kidding?! Night time was absolutely freezing! Fell asleep on the stone circle one night and suprised I didn't die.

No, Saturday night I wore shorts, every other time I've been there I've had to change to jeans but I was wandering in the early hours and felt fine!

the rain at the event is only one factor - its the build up that screws things up so if its been pouring it down for weeks you know what its going to be like.
I do recall that 98/07 was two wet years as well but the mud was bugger all compared to 85.
from memory only two years came close for mud but I only look at rain as a minor inconvenience.
Clearly the work they have done to put in proper drainage is working its only when you compare it to Latitude that you can see what a difference the ground makes { its very rare to see any mud at Latitude due to its natural drainage }
I remember the floods but lucky enough the crew campsite was well away from the flood plains although I do recall using a boat one year to inspect one of the beer tents { that used to be in the area called lower mead { or close }} - the Tent manager was a extreme optimist and he believed the water would drain away - well it did but not during the event - this was also the year the WBC Overspill campsite { there was no pun intended } was flooded out - don't have a clue where that was all I know was we had to move the staff to camping inside two of our marquees tents - one mystery that I have never been able to find out is where the boat came from -
i don't have any images as I was not risking my SLR in a unsteady boat but the thing that will stick in my head is this - you have to imagine the beer Tent was flooded and the water was just under the Beer counter { so had to be at least four feet deep } - it just looked as if we had pitched the beer tent in the middle of the lake - we rowed in had a look around and then rowed to the edge of the lake - as we were pulling the boat out two Punters walked up and asked ' Is the Bar open Yet ? ' - at first I thought they were taking the piss but I think it was a genuine question - I told them to come back later and had to be in the evening I was getting a lift in one of the WBC Security landrover's when I spotted the same two Punters - the lake had gone down a bit but still it was flooded up to forty feet away - and there was the two Punters standing at the edge - anyway asked the driver to pull up - I asked them what they were doing and they said ' well you told us to come back later ' - well I had to give them a lift and we dropped them at one of the bars { that was not flooded } - they were chuffed to get a lift in a landrover - I would have bought them a drink but we got a call to go to the Guest tent { back stage compound } so had to shot off - I would love to have found out why they were wanting to go into that beer tent but never did see them again.
I think it was 2005 but I may be wrong as they all tend to merge into one.
image is from 2005 and is the John peel stage { or was renamed the John peel stage }
happy days - anyone who has never experienced a really muddy or flooded Glastonbury has this to look forward to

image below is not mine but you see what I am on about { 2005 }

'89, '90 no real recollection, was only day tripping (at night) but both were great summers (not that I can remember them, they were GREAT summers).
'99 lovely all weekend, except bit of a thunderstorm in the afternoon, I was watching Ash, but it was when Travis got the timing right. Didn't dry well, my legs were knackered from walking, gigs and not being able to sit down. Cleared up slowly by mid morning sunday was forgotten.
'00 Sunshine, intermittent cloud. Perfect festival weather. Not blazing, not raining. I was only there fri til sun morning.
'09 good storm on thurs evening which didnt cause much impact initially and if anything, but it started raining in the night and carried on til the start of friday's early entertainment. The cabaret tent was impressed to have the audience it did with people chosing to shelter from the rain. By lunchtime there was sun again, site dried up REALLY fast, with everything being back to normal by mid-afternoon. It rained again through the night on and off sunday night and dried up amazingly fast the following morning.
'10 What can you say? Lovely, beautiful, dust. Everyone looking well weathered by friday so newcomers looked like frightened tourists compared to the natives. Some say too hot, my daughter got a bit of sunstroke. I say, so what! A smoothy and a nap in the shade solves everything. Ignore any naysayers who say things like "a shower helps damp down the dust" and other such claptrap. Rain is officially not a good thing and should stay away.
