Days by Ray Davies and To The End by Blur. Both songs made the singers bottom lips wobble and that makes it for me.

Candi Staton doing Young Hearts Run Free in 2008 at JW was pretty special. Infact the Candi Staton / Lupe Fiasco double was one of my fave ever Glasto days..... only to be surpassed by Aloe/Janelle and Big Boi this year.:D

After lots of debate I convinced my friends to go and see Neil Young, with the trade-off that I would miss Prodigy (one of my favs) for Blur. What a decision!

First of all he played an amazing set (Heart of Gold/down by the river / needle and the damage done, etc). Then to top it all off a 10 minute version of Keep on Rockin in the free world! Ending in him going crazy ripping all the strings off his guitar and generally looking possessed. My friends were all converted and later claimed it was the best perfromance of the festival, we then played football with a beachball on the Pryamid field before heading to Shangri-La for a night of chaos, amazing.

Most of mine happened at my favourite Glastonbury - 2008, and strangely they are all a bit MOR

One Day Like This - Elbow on the Other Stage (to see so many grown men cry)
The couple we’re experiencing our first Glasto with had this as they’re wedding song last summer – you can guarantee it will go off between us if the Elbow guys throw this one out during their set!  B)

Tis great reading all of these. Thanks everyone. The anticipation for next month is building up nicely!
Echo that, a few of us here at work are loving the ‘Glasto is now next month’ statement!

That is a big question...

first thing that springs to mind is Karma Police last year at Thom Yorke's surprise show at the park. It was so amazing I didn't know what to do with myself, I was quite emotional afterwards haha.

there are so many songs and acts it's hard to think of ones that really stick out!
a couple that spring to mind are:
Paul McCartney doing Hey Jude on the Pyramid stage, think it was '04. People were still singing that chorus the year afterwards, never forgot that.
The Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench, no idea what the year was but it was the 90's and I'm pretty sure it was the Pyramid stage as well, I was so young but it's one of my earliest Glastonbury memories, I just remember dancing around on my own with not a care in the world even though I was drenched to the bone.

1. Blur - Tender.  Simply magical.
2. Paul McCartney - Hey Jude.  Makes me shiver just thinking about it.
3. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust.  Just because he played it.
4. Pulp - Common People (1998).  I wasn't at '95 but this was my first Glasto and this was my most perfect moment.
5. Faithless - Insomnia (2002).  I've rarely felt so happy.

Crowded House - Bring the Weather With You , Pyramid - if I am correct, this was 08 and therefore a year after 07 aka the Wettening. And even if it was 09, it was still bloody perfect as the sun blazed down on us all and we all stood there very smug and happy.

Radiohead 1997 - whichever track it was that had the fireworks from the Fire Procession juxtaposed against Thom's face on the big screens. Wasnt a Radiohead fan but I knew I was present at something REALLY special.

Sting - Fields of Gold 97 Pyramid. Sunset(ish) view of the Tor in the distance. Perfect.

The final half hour of the Orbital 'Final Set' in 04 Second Stage from Halcyon onwards. Couldnt stop bawling from then on funnily enough.

And finally - Lamb - Gorecki, West Holts 09(?)  Fecking utterly beautiful. Had waited a LONG time to hear that played live. Tears did fall.

Young Hearts Run Free - Candi Staton 2010. I spent the majority of this gig singing along or just laughing with my friend about the excellence of Candi. Also You Got The Love as you could hear people (myself included) screaming 'this is how it's done Florence'.

Knee Deep - Parliament 2010. Straight after Candi as well! Danced like a madwoman, my proximity to Brothers Bar didn't help either...

Tender - Blur 2009. Just an excellent gig from start to finish. I've always been a fan and seen them live a couple of times before but this was the one for me, it just felt like the the band were having the time of their lives, very emotional.

Arcade Fire - Wake Up 2007. I'd never really listened to them before and this gig made me a big fan. Hearing everyone roaring the opening to the song was amazing, I was in tears!

Bjork - Army of Me 2007. When those lasers started!

Jimmy Cliff - I Can See Clearly Now 2003. Scorching day, hands in the air 'Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies'. And there really wasn't!

Donna Summer - I Feel Love 2003. The Glade Stage on Thursday night, everyone going mental and singing at the top of their voices, great when the falsetto started!

London Community Gospel Choir 2007/2009/2010. Is becoming my Sunday regular, always enjoy them and always end up in tears!

I only went last year. I will go with two -

Florence and the Machine - Dog Days are Over - Not my fav. song off the album, or her best. But it was a moment to remember.
Imogen Heap - Tidal - Who knew Imogen Heap would rock out so well? Great way to end a fantastic set.

Don't Worry Baby/God Only Knows - Brian Wilson - 2005. The whole set was incredible but these actually made me cry (as did And Then I Kissed Her).

thom n jonny - pyramid song (2010) - i know karma police got the biggest reaction but this for me was perfect. jonny playing the guitar like a violin and the sunset setting was fitting for a song like this. the most perfect music moment i can think of.

I do  remember watching Spearhead in 2004, annd absolutely loving the whole hour... he'd *just* finished writing an anti-war song, I think this might have been it (or at least a rougher version he sang at the time. There was a real sense of emotion and feeling in the crowd, and it really sticks with me as a standout moment.

(no particular order, after 'Hey Jude'/'Live and Let Die' the ultimate Glasto moments for me)

'Hey Jude' 2004 – although while not a big fireworks fan or anything, I’d also say the jolt and jump I had during ‘Live and Let Die’ is always memorable for me, so that's a close runnerup
'National Anthem' (Radiohead 2003)
'Little Lion Man' (Mumford & Sons 2010)
'Squalor Victoria' (The National 2010)
'Circles' (Lou Rhodes 2010) – from her Bimble Inn set on the Sunday. Just lovely…while I was sitting down in an intimate setting with a few pints...
'Thinking About Tomorrow' (Beth Orton 2003 – jazzfield)
'Tender' 2009...yes, it was nice, i admit. not the biggest Blur fan, but still, i can recognize a moment when it happens. Oh, and 'Park Life' was brilliant too.
'Down by the River' (Neil Young 2009)-
'Outlaw Pete' (Springsteen 2009) …………… kidding. He stubbornly kept this in the set for so long at the start of the tour, although eventually he’d drop it. It just was so out-of-place in a Glasto set, too long and too early in the #3 slot. Stubborness…
'Catch the Sun' (Doves 2002)
'Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground' (White Stripes 2002) - a new band to me at the time, read all the press, etc...so this set was my intro to them and after the snippet of "Little Room" this opener is what introduced me to a band whose records i didn't necessarily get into as much as their live performances.
'I Can See Clearly Now' (Jimmy Cliff 2003)

Biggest “surprise”
59 Sound (Gaslight Anthem 2009) – w/ Bruce… even though I noticed him just before, side-of-stage. Thought he was just observing though, not that he’d actually come on.

Some memories in this thread. My personal memories include:

Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen
Tender - Blur
The Verve set
The Elbow set (2008)
The Neil Young set

Is there anyway you can download the video/audio of the past Glastonbury performances? Would love to see some of them again (seen a few tracks on youtube).
