After watching Mumford's set at their penultimate song, where do you think we will be for U2?

In front of the Sound desk with some determination? Or no chance?

No chance

I reckon it will be a seriously big crowd for U2, unless you make it around from the other stage to the pyramid in record time you'd still have to work your way through a massive crowd who wont want to move!

i have the same problem. Has anyone done this trip before and got a decent spot (i.e. near the sound desk)in past years?

Did it for Stevie, but didn't really attempt to get near the front.

Last year, could have got really near the front on the Saturday before Muse because Scissor Sisters were on before. But U2 are a much bigger band and I reckon the Morrissey/U2's demographics overlap much more than Scissor Sisters/U2!

We'll be doing that, along with n,000 others, and will no doubt get into the Pyramid field but have to be to the side and back a bit.  We will be level with/back from the mixing desk, infield a bit from the urinals.  U2 will be about the "spectacle and the singalong" not being in the middle at the front, or at least it will be for us.  Reasonable sized group of us, able to get to our tent/cider bus for supplies, listen, jig about, sing along.  Can't wait :)

I did Hot Chip to Gorillaz last year, I jogged/sprinted literally as soon as the last song ended and weaved my way into the Gorillaz crowd, ended up just behind the mixing bit. I was on my own though (kind of ditched my friend, oops) which makes it a LOT easier.

We made it Editors to Muse last year without a problem, arrived for the last 2 songs of the scissor sisters set, then moved into position when they went off stage.  Just do not succumb to temptation and take the shortest route, as it will be the slowest moving slow shuffle on site, it is almost always faster to take a more circuitous route where you can walk faster than being caught in a shuffling mass.

In '99 I remember not knowing this, left gomez at the end of the set and missed the first 2 or 3 songs from REM as we were caught in a massive slow moving shuffling crowd.

Went from LCD Soundsystem to Stevie Wonder last year with time to visit the gents and a bar along the way.  Made it to just beside the entrance to the arena.

Dunno if it makes a difference going via William's Green/cutting down beside the bandstand rather than via the dance village, but I'd imagine it does as going via the Dance Village you'll get caught up with all the people coming in from the John Peel.

Can you use the path in between the Dance village and pyramid, or is that one of those pass only routes?

last year i watched carl barat, missed the first few songs if gorrilaz but was able to walk pretty much to the sound desk with no worries, a lot of people were leaving though (i soon followed and watched the XX at the park)

we also watched a few songs from Julian Casablancas on the sunday and strolled over for stevie about 10-15 minutes before he came on, were in front of the sound desk just about 20 meters right of it (facing the stage) and that was without any trouble.

It can be done, just pick your path :)  although U2 will be a MASSIVE draw, biggest crowd to date I reckon

I got from the front at Arcade Fire after seeing all the set to the front at Arctic Monkeys. To do that I headed along the front fence on the right hand side of the Pyramid without a view for a bit.
Also went from Hot Chip to Jay Z another year. That time we aimed for the mixing desk - that was harder work.

It can be done, for Faithless we were on the edge(there were 4 of us) and pretty far out but in the break we managed to get in right into the inner circle.
But I think I'm going to sacrifice Mumford and Sons (as much as I would love to see them) and drink enough to get through Morissey, I don't want to risk it.

Personally I don't get why Tinie Tempah managed to snag a slot on the Pyramid and Mumford and Sons didn't, after watching the Brits surely they are just as successful/popular if not more? but this is a separate matter...

I can understand tinie tempah 4 down on the pyramid - he is massive with the kids now a days. Plan B three down (Ahead of Paul Simon) is more baffling to me. Can't stand either of them so will be elsewhere, but yes would've been handy if Mumfords were on the Pyramid.
