Sundrive Hire (Camper Van / Motorhome Hire) Anyone Used Them?

Any update?
Having planned super-early + booking our campervan last October, the owner's just emailed and me it's been in an accident + won't be sorted before Glasto. Nightmare!! (Well, not for me, I'm happy to camp but we have persuaded two of our friends to come on the proviso we were in a campervan so they won't be happy ... )
2 groups of my mates have booked with sundrive + I've showed them this thread. They've spoken to them + seem to be been reassured it's genuine but I have a more cynical attitude than they do + remain unconvinced ... all a bit too easy. Given we've been getting quotes for a 5-berth camper between £900 - £2200 (eek!!) from other companies, sundrive do seem unbelievably cheap in comparison.
So would be really interested in if anyone has actually hired a campervan from them recently ...

Hi. I booked a Swift 685 with Sundrive last month for July. After all the concerns expressed on this forum and others I spoke with them (a few times) and asked them to show me the motorhome I had hired. I have arranged to have one delivered to my house for a viewing later this week. While I can't say that this free 'preview' will remove all doubts about the company's intentions, I can say that they certainly seem to be making an effort with me. I'll post an update once I've seen the vehicle.

So, just to clarify, nobody on this thread has actually had an issue with this company?
I am not worried about the website as it is quite common for companies to pull through info from other sites, particularly if linked content. Similarly, I am unconcerned about the company not having a site full of empty vans waiting to be booked out as it is common for rental companies to keep overheads down by operating more as an intermediary broker through a virtual office than as an owner of the vehicles. What I do want to know is if anyone has had an experience where the van has not been delivered, too much money was taken, the product did not meet the description, etc (other than if the vehicle was in an accident which could result in it no longer being available).
Interested to hear of anything concrete rather than just the concern that we are all experiencing to varying degrees about this company's reliability.

The simple fact that they created users on here to give themselves 'a big up' would be sufficient for me to avoid them.
I would seriously suggest you read through again.
Then read this thread.

If the fleet is 90 campers can I ask how many people know of people who have booked ?
I know of 2 campers currently hired off the company.
I would be interested to see what the total count stands at?

Does the monies not take 7 days to be taken out of your account?

I've not posted that often but I'm certainly no new user.
I've just booked with this company and I hope they are legitimate. I will keep the forum updated with my experience with Sundrive.

And I'd have thought that they'd also be able to tell people where this yard was.If the fleet is 90 campers ...
The fact that they have done neither seems very strange, especially when there's so many doubts about their legitimacy flying around.

Seems there are concerns in other forums too, granted it's a cached page, but similar sentiments to the thread here and on MSE.

Mate of mine has a motorhome on a "franchise" agreement, the company he uses to rent it out have motorhomes all over the country. Done some googling and no signs of any threads about them being dodgy. So, make of that what you will (before you ask, his van is already out for Glasto, though not to me disappointingly!)

My friend just spoke with Sundrive hire there and they were more than happy to deal with his questions
He spoke to Tim
He stated to him that the address they recide from at (the below address) is in fact an office an that he was speaking to them from there
The Rural Enterprise Centre
Stafford Drive
Shrewsbury
SY1 3FE
Next, he stated that the company was in fact setup 18 months ago so to my recollection this does not match what is stated in this thread,
He also stated that if I would want to cancel the booking that would be no prob.
views?

I had almost exactly the same conversation it seems...
Pleasant sounding fella (despite being a Cockney), called Tim. Said company started 18m ago, by someone experienced in the motorhome business (who had split from their previous business partner?). Said all the motorhomes 1-2 ys old, and spread across a few depots throughout country.
I booked earlier today - say around 2ish, giving credit card details. I came across this thread practically AS i was booking - really put the wind up me. I mentioned the bad press to Tim as we talked, and he said yes they were aware of it.
If they are genuine (and I really hope they are, as they have our details) they haven't really handled it very well. They did offer an inspection to me at my home - as they've offered to other people it seems.
I'm hopeful but still vaguely unconvinced... I offered to go and look at one of the vans anywhere near Brum at my own expense, and they didnt really jump at the chance.
In any case they said they won't take any money at the moment, even though they have our details, so we're keeping an eye out too!
Sounds like they do need to do something to demonstrate they are real, if they are a genuine company, becuase their reputation is getting a bit battered here...

Amazzzzzzzzzzzzzing!!
PS I have a work background of working closely with fraud for a blue chip company within the travel industry.
Having read this and other threads my gut instinct is 'Save you money and book elsewhere.'
1st time posters you are doing the company more damage IF and that is a big IF they are genuine.

I'm a newbie to this forum and thread, but not to Glasto. My Glasto is usually straightforward, volunteering or going with groups.
This year we only got resale tickets, so it's been more complicated.
StoneCircle, i'm not entirely sure what you're implying - that i'm a stooge of the company maybe. Of course you've a right to your opinion, but my post isn't exactly unambiguously positive.
Perhaps if you've nothing much useful to say, you should say nothing. And let those of us who have money riding on the outcome figure out whats going on, and how to fix it if need be.
Or just start calling us names if it makes you feel better?

There are too many newbies on this thread for it to be a coincidence.
I am implying that it is amazing that you also spoke to Tim.
I am finding the new approach by today's posters interesting. As you say you are not being 'unambiguously positive' nor is Mimes or Simpy looks like a new hymn sheet is being sung from if you get my drift and have read the thread..
I don't call people names, you will find if you look at my posts I am genuinely helpful.
However I do not like to see people get robbed of their hard earned cash. I will be watching this thread and look forward to reading your contributions as a regular Glastonbury festival attendee I am sure you have lots to share.

Stone Circle, what exactly are you getting at with the 2 aliases?
Obviously, you have either spoken with the Tim guy or have collected the information so can you please be more direct and pass on what your view is on the subject
I am a newbie alright,
I came on here today to see if I can look into getting a campervan ticket ironically enough! and then found saw this thread.. which as you can imagine, threw a spanner into todays works!
