gotta feeling this debate will rumble on til june....and must admit to feeling more than a little happy that i was going to see Gorillaz rather than U2 last year....and then....

Gorillaz let me down badly. I didn't come away satisfied at all, although i know many others did  
The Edge was fantastic with Muse....gave me a right buzz just seeing him, let alone playing 'Streets' with him. I'd forgotten just how much i loved the Joshua Tree
Keane did 'With or without you' and were INCREDIBLE!! (I was shocked at just how good that gig was!) REALLY made me feel that to see U2 sing it would just be something special

For me, I am now very much looking forward to hear Joshua Tree stuff, and one or two others. They will please the crowd that show up I'm sure, as long as they have a FEW old sing-alongs in the set

Mentioned it on the U2 (arsed) thread already but I saw them do that combination of songs on the same tour in Manchester. The ending of Bad, into 40 and then the intro to Streets is one of the greatest concert going moments I've witnessed.

Bono really gonna risk a walkway at a festival? In all seriousness, people might throw things at him. Far more likely at a festival than at their own gig. If they do get a walkway, it won't be going anywhere into the crowd.

As for it beimg unnecessary at Glastonbury - I get your point, the Pyramid does have a certain magic of its own, but a little razzamatazz never hurt either.

dont get me wrong, I am no U2 hater. And I agree, I am sure they can and would be sensational without "the production". I was hoping glastonbury would be the perfect opportunity for them to prove the doubters wrong.

I get why they put on the massive shows for the fans. The ticket prices are sky high and they probably think the fans would not be satisfied with anything less than an epic show (and they are possibly right, a lot would demand the show). A glastonbury crowd wouldnt expect all that crap though and I was hoping the band would love a chance to put the "biggest band on the planet" crap behind them and just rock out and do a back to basics type gig.
