you boycotting? excellent, one less person for the rest of us to worry about. I don't think danbailey's enjoyment was particularly high in their list of priorities.

I thought it was all about me?

Think the best option is to check out other areas, then head over when calmed down around 2ish....That's my plan. Please let your source know immediately.

I understand they all thought of moving it elsewhere but can't. Fari enough.

But what I don't get is they seem to be simply moving the queue problem somewhere else and making it busier. Whatever time you went to this area last year, the furthest area, (think it was the common) was half empty.

So I belive having an extra path going here as well as well the other paths into and out will solve this...But now every single person has to go the same way - seems strange..

I do hope it works well - time will tell..

I never saw any of the over-crowding last year as we don't tend to head up until 2ish.  Hopefully it'll be a bit less manic by then.

I'm thinking Friday or Saturday night me might give the headliners a miss and head in early. We went in early on the Saturday last year as there weren't any headliners on we fancied and I really enjoyed the experience. Alot of the bars weren't open but a good few were and it was good to be able to move around and sit and get a beer before it got mental. I'll definately be doing the same this year.

I did the same on Friday last year and it was great.  OK, it feels a bit dead with less people around but it was nice to be able to explore properly and appreciate the work that's gone into some of the big pieces (the Unfairground was particularly epic imho!).  Think I'll be sacrificing Coldplay to go in early again this year, can't be hassled with crowds, I'm not really a "late night" person anyway!

A source very close to the logistics told me tonight that the plans are:

Normal access to late night areas until 11pm. At which point a fence is put up across all normal entrances, and a single barriered queue will be the only route into the late night areas. When at capacity it will be a one in one out policy.

But surely they won't fence completely off the normal entrances and will make them exits with security to stop people trying to get in? Also I assume one in one out means the entrance team will wait until they've been told enough people have left and they will let another group in. I read your message to say that the new entrance from 11 will be the only way in or out, which will make things much worse.

Look at the map. One way in but lots of orange arrows out at the old access points.  They can easily monitor those and feed numbers leaving back to the entrance. It will be one out/one in but not from one exit.

All seems very sensible to me. Also, as someone who camps on the North Side, actually relatively convenient.

It will take careful stewarding to avoid any crushes or people breaking in through other routes. It'll be interesting to see how far along they "close" the old railway line to incoming traffic.

They've had crowd issues with the late night areas for as long as I've been going.

I remember Lost Vagueness beign almost impossible to get to in 2004 and having to fight my way through a bush to get to the Glade to watch Fat Boy Slim...

do you think a lot of the people who camp in pennards for its proximity to the late night areas move elsewhere near the entrance? Kidney mead is looking a lot more desirable because of this

I wouldn't mind as long it wasn't too hard to get back from the late night areas. I'm still rather confused by all of this.

The access for Arcadia last year seemed  a bit random, we left Fatboy Slim on the Friday last year at something like 1am...and walked up there and got in no problems....Saturday night after High Contrast there was this queing system going on and we couldn't get in at all....ended up in a tent in the Unfair Ground with MC Thali.  then on the sunday we went in after orbital, again strolled up without making too much of a rush.

Like somoene else said maybe time to move some of it around instead of containing it all in one area.

Seems mad to me - why not put the building type venues near the Dance Village.

Last year the club inside the Tower Block wasn't too load outside - so any noise would be ( I assume) at OK levels.

There was a point at the back of Avalon where the crushing was so bad the compound fencing was moved to help the pressure , it got very worrying, think it was the friday night.

the way i read it, the arrow is pointing to the entrance to the path, cant see anything that says its one way?  looks to me as if you can walk to the end of the railway , turn left and enter arcadia, turn right for shangri la. the way you usually enter?

It reads to me that the path is only open at those times, not that it is the only route in. Other wise it would be "Only Shangri La Area access - 2300-0400" and not "Shangri La Area - Only Access 2300 - 0400".

There does seem to be a small orange arrow pointing the 'wrong' way up the railway line to me.

Yeah, you can just about see it when you zoom right in.  Having orange on red isn't helpful.

And actually there are orange arrows pointing out of the Common and by Arcadia. So you can clearly get out that way. Really badly worded by Glebeland though.

well if it is a one way, it looks as though its designed to put tourists off due to the hassle and distance, which is a good thing because it will only be people that really want to be there that will make the effort. dont know if it will work though, could end up like sheep as usual.

Is this all that different from how it's been in past years?

All it seems to be is moving the queue from the Railway Track to somewhere more out of the way, so that people don't get stuck on the track trying to get elsewhere on the site. And a formalising of when each entrance and exit is open. Didn't all the other entrances get closed off once it got close to capacity anyway?

Yes, quite a few people knew how to sneak in through other entrances and so forth, but a) this is fairer and B) you might still be able to do that anyway.

It's massively different if, like us, you are likely to be dance village/other each night - and you're in east camper van fields. We have to walk all the way back to our entry gate, behind all the Pyramid traffic, and go back up!
