Sounds good to me, sounds like they hoping it also put people off and disperse them around a little to, instead of just pilling in for an hour!

Looking at the map and reading the interview - if Arcadia field is full, you think you will still be able to carry on to other fields less popular, such as Block 9 etc?

"Incidentally, there are going to be barriers and steel fencing up in Dragon Field too, so don’t bother trying to cut round the back into the area that way.”

Great so if you want to go from the stone circle into shangri-la it's a long walk to the top of the site. Thanks.
looks like there is now a festival within a festival???

It's all a great shame.  But I do appreciate that both the status quo (no, not them - look it up!) and any suggestable alternative have their own problems.

The one way system last year was vile and managed to annoy just about everyone - punters, crew, performers and security alike.

I think that this year's plan will work a lot better.

I think this is a generally good idea, I was caught in a railway line crush a few years ago with some friends and it was no fun at all. I also very nearly got knocked off my feet by the crowd inside shangri-la last year, which as a reasonably well built 6ft something bloke doesn't happen too often. They really did need to do something to control things at peak times - it was just about safe but if someone needed medical attention in a hurry or there was a fire or something it would be pretty awful.

I've only got two concerns, one is that I hope strummerville will be outside the cordon as it's one of my favourite places on site (and doesn't really fit in to the feeling of the rest of the area anyway, it's much more like the late night green field stuff), the second is that there don't appear to be any toilets in the queue. If people are going to be stuck there for hours after an evening of drinking that seems like a bit of an oversight, especially for the poor folk in crew camping that'll have to put up with the smell.

Finally I hope they make sure it's easy to back out of the queue area for people who get bored, nothing worse then feeling trapped.

Your first concern has been realised - Strummerville will be within the cordon unfortunately.

Oh well, I guess I'll either have to get there early and nab a prime place by the fire or go find something random elsewhere

Hi all,

If anyone's got any doubts as to whether or not this move by GFL is a good idea, I'd suggest that you have a look at the below video which explains the events leading up to the Loveparade tragedy last year.

http://www.dokumenta...de.com/english/

It shows how easy and quickly it can be for a crowd to become fatal, and I see some similarities between the LP setup and the former access route via the Railway Line. It really wouldn't surprise me if the LP tragedy has acted as a catalyst for these changes. Certainly having watched the video I feel much more supportive of the change at Glasto.
