I was watching the glastonbury dvd yesterday & about 3/4 of the way through there is a black man playing 'sometimes I feel like a motherless child' on an acoustic guitar & he falls off his chair at the end of the tune. It looked like an awesome performance by a talented individual but can anyone tell me who he is or any links on youtube?

I know the song - it's a traditional African American song, but only know the Tom Jones version...
Does this Wiki link help - could it be any of these people performing?

now that was a festival -
I have American friends who went - the facilities was very basic due to them being forced to move venues very close to it starting .
I occasional wear my Woodstock t-shirt that my friends gave me and its amazing how many people want to buy it .

I love Richie Haven's version of 'Back to my roots'. I'm sure you'll know the song, but this is by far and away the best cover of it (Oddessy's version is the most well known). I'm not so keen on this live version, but his recorded version is immense. Really recommend hunting it down

I was there - Richie Havens at Glasto - and he was superb.
A lot of Americans and others who'd been at Woodstock came over for the early Glastos and Shepton Mallett before it became Glasto and one of my illusions was shattered about the peace and love of Woodstock.
An American couple camped next to us called at our tent and asked if we had any sugar they could borrow. So we gave them some.
"How much do you want for it?" they asked.
"Nothing," I said. "It's just some sugar."
They were really suprised and said that at Woodstock everyone was charging everyone for everything. There wasn't so much sharing but a lot of selling.
I was stunned. I can't imagine ever charging someone at Glasto for a cup of sugar.
