a friend of mine found at they cant go glasto today.

she paid for the deposit on the week it was due, received an email with confirmation saying she had a ticket. only today have they sent an email declaring the payment wasnt processed but the thing is she had enough funds etc in her account and theres no way it should have failed. she rang see tickets but theres nothing they can do.

this is rudiculous... the fact they sent a confirmation email and didnt alert her until it was too late.

theyve f**ked up this year with this whole only having a week to pay in april nonsense.

they should just go back to how they use to do it and give you the option of paying it all up front.

theyve well n truly ruined her plans for the summer now :(

im assuming theres no way around this but if anyone knows of any it would be greatly appreciated.... or advice on how to get her into the festival any other way.

Does she have the details of when the payment was attempted to be collected, IE the date, and then proof that there were sufficient funds?

If she does then I dont' see how SEE Tickets could give a 'its too late' stock answer, also does she have free leagal advice through any insurance policies? It coule be worth getting advice.

Let us know the outcome if you can.

That's a truly horrid thing to happen.  I'm sure it's still possible to organise working at the festival, failing that there will have to be a few more tickets become available between now and the festival (May 6th refund date looming) and, if your friend makes the right amount of fuss and noise in the right places, I'll bet someone can make sure she gets one of those tickets.  Get her to group together all the evidence of her unfortunate experience (bank statements, the emails, etc.) and send it with a polite letter to Seetickets, GFL, ME himself, etc. demonstrating that a fault in the system not the individual caused the problem.  Also contact Radio 1 / BBC website and local papers - if there's sod all news for a day they'll run the story.

They're a joke. Here's a typical conversation from last year's R&L ticket fiasco:

Quote

We can't post your tickets to you as they won't arrive in time so you'll have to go and pick them up from the box office.

OK, can I have my postage fee refunded?

No.

Why not?

Because we need to use it to post them to the box office.

If I remember correctly when you pay the balance it says somewhere that the money will be taken out in the next 5 days and that its up to us to make sure it has. If it has not gone through after the 5 days to get in touch with them ASAP. I think it also said that they are not responsible and if there is any problems then the ticket will be cancelled. It read something like that.

I am really sorry this has happened to you. I would be devastated if it had happened to me.

Good luck in getting in.

I had a similar thing happen to me in 2004 - I wrote a snotty letter to the MD of Seetickets and within a week they rang me offering me some replacement tickets.

I think it's worth her getting in touch with Glastonbury directly, and asking if there's anything they can do to re-instate her ticket - it's worth a try at least.

would be good if you can get the MD's name or the name of someone high up at see but their address is on their website. Also you'd expect the festival or SEE to keep a few tickets back as slack for various instances so they should have a ticket to allocate in these circumstances where you have done nothing wrong.

2nd Floor, Norfolk House, 47 Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham, NG1 2AB

i'd do a snotty letter sent recorded delivery and see where it gets you

edit: a quick google gives the following names altho it is from 2008 so the names could well have changed

Nick Blackburn Nick is our managing director 020 7087 7777  Rob Wilmshurst Rob is chief operating officer and in charge of See's online ticketing system 0115 912 9000  Karen Southerton Karen is our finance director 020 7087 7777  Rebekah Macleary Rebekah is our head of marketing and all-round expert on the theatre 020 7087 7777

I think the Glastonbury office number above is her best bet, it's clearly an admin error and not her fault if there was cash in her account

I'm sure there's a similar story to this every year, and it always gets sorted out in the end.

Not too snotty with the letter though - you don't want to wind anyone up  remember but get them on your side.  I think a letter where you're pitch lies between despair, disappointment and indignation is the best bet.

You mean the balance yeah??

Same thing happened to me, paid up, rec'd confirmation.....then got an email saying my funds hadnt gone through, panicked at this point but they wont onto give me a weeks extension to pay the remainder (until the 15th opposed to the original 7/8th)

Seems hugely unfair that she was told too late and not given any opportunity to rectify that.

wouldnt bother trying to reason with Seetickets, id suggest going straight to Glasto HQ, surely they have a heart??

Good luck!

The very first thing should be tot ask the bank if a payment ws asked for - they WILL know.

If it wasn't, SEE will probably be more open to using one of the reserve stock ( they DO have some every year )

If SEE are politely told that the bank have confirmed the payment wasn't called for, and assuming all the ref numbers and deposit were in place, I can't see them refusing to re-instate the order.

Since 1995 I have had on eor two issues, but SEE havealways, without exception, listened and been reasonable.

however - if they DID ask for the payment, and your bank bounced it, for whatever reason, you have less of a case.

Good luck.

I would agree that the bank should be the first port of call.

Your original post mentions that your freind paid the deposit. I presume she also remembered to log in to pay the balance?

i meant to say to say that she had already paid the deposit last year and thought she had paid the rest of the balance the other week... she received a confirmation email to say it was all sorted soon after she 'paid' only to receive the bad news and turn around today.

we'll get on to all the bank stuff and begin writing and calling glasto hq.

Last year i had an issue with our registration numbers, basically, when i went to book the tickets we were refused and the web site said numbers don't exist. Anyway i called See and was told by a bloke there is nothing they can do. So, i called again and told the same. Reg numbers were valid by the way. I then got my then g/f to call and she somehow managed to get through to See customer services who sorted it all out and we got tickets.

KEEP TRYING, YOU WILL GET YOUR TICKETS. KEEP ASKING TO BE PUT THROUGH TO CUSTOMER SERVICES. :)

If the bank did bounce her payment I don't think see will budge, as anoldhippie@60 said in post 5
they do ask you to check and make sure the payment has gone through, sorry

good luck
