... they aren't booked at the same time, duheavis must of booked his headliners for this year, in the last year though, he wouldnt of known u2 will pull out. i cant imagine him booking 3 headliners for 2011 2 years ago, and then telling one of them, actually, u2 are playing this year. i cant see that a promoter would book a band that far away. maybe negotiate, yes, but not book.

Blink 182 were booked 12-18 months prior to their UK comeback. They just didn't want to tour Europe at the time and toured US. I remember Melvin saying he already booked a headliner for 2010 R/L around the time of 2009 R/L.
Green Day may not have 'been ready' for this year and opted for next year. Like Muse this year...might want to take a break from writing and play the odd show next year (unless they have a new studio album out next year which I don't think is the case).

tbh even AC says he has one booked for next year, but well it depends on so many factors that its hard to book that far in advance..

True, but he was also saying that he still had to book one for this year a few months ago.
There is no hard and fast rule, sometimes they'll be signed up early and other later than normal. It would be foolish not to look ahead and lay out plans and with certain bands you'd have to but other factors such as being unsure about availablitly may mean headliners getting booked later.

With all this talk about Eavis, it's worth bearing in mind that he's renowned for talking absolute shite in interviews.

I would do another Reading weekend if Greenday are headlining.

Thats where I'd put emphasis. That probably means he's had a casual chat with the manager of one band that might be bringing out material and be interested.
I dont so much doubt Glastonbury's ability to book a band 3 years in advance as a bands ability to know what they're doing 3 years later. Anything could happen. Especially given how unreliable some big bands can be.

Yeah, he said the headliners this year were 3 huge American acts and the 1 American is very big but I wouldn't call her huge. Just like Andy saying he's got next year headliners sorted out and has now back tracked and said he hasn't, that man really is full of shit.
He said the 2014 headliner is a hand shake agreement and he hasn't said they are specificly booked or if it's more than 1 headliner for each year, here's the quote...

http://www.efestival...haeleavis.shtmlAt what point do you go back to working on the Festival for 2013?
We start putting the show together for 2013 from 1st October 2012. We've already got headliners for the next two years. We have 2013 sorted pretty much, and I've got '14 as well. Well, I've got a handshake on '14.
It's probably someone like Bob Dylan, Prince or The Who as Glasto doesn't solely rely on contemporay headliners like R&L does so they can book them well in advance.
