I know Russy is being sarcastic, but it's actually a fair point.  Several oasis songs which are a whiny dirge on record are palatable with Noel's vocals (again, that unplugged set really showed this off)

I still wouldn't go see him, man is a collosall penis.

Oasis had ONE good album, the first one. Its captured the spirit of the 90's perfectly everything after has been shit compared to that first lot.

I think that is judging them harshly, to say that Morning Glory isn't a classic album is revisionism, pure and simple.  At that point in time they couldn't do a thing wrong.

I often look back now and try and figure out the exact point that Oasis stopped being good to me.  I remember the first single off be here now being a massive disappointment and the album being a bit hit and miss, from there on out it was downhill all the way.

The odd thing for me is, I used to really like oasis, when I listen back now I think there are perhaps only 3 or 4 songs in their entire catalogue that I wouldn't hit skip if they come up in a playlist.  

Noel's petulant, somewhat pathetic attitude since then has only made me less and less receptive, he is the only man on earth that makes Liam look good.

Can't agree at all - i am no oasis apologist, althogh over the years i have stuck up for Noel as I think he was what madeoasis stand out - Liam had a kind of charisma ( initially) but became a caricature very quickly...Noel has written some good songs, some great songs and a few classics.

i defended him on Page 1 of this thread, and others before, and now feel able to say....told you so !!

Says the person who creates the demand and consumes the type of music that is stifling genuinely creative and exciting artists from public exposure.

I'm no Oasis junkie, but at least they played instruments, had a bit of swagger and created something organic and true to themselves. Until you stop lapping up the over compressed, over produced, artificial backing tracks with the next souless and talentless wannabe industry whore warbling over the top, created by producers willing to bend over and take one from the industry execs who play you like a puppet, then I for one, think you should keep the shouting down a bit.

Love it or hate it Oasis have been one of the best bands in the 90s....and i just can't understand the hate some bloggers are expressing towards this band...Now that Oasis are no longer together, I
hope i can catch Noel play live with the High flying birds at least....

This is a BIG generalisation but... I'm pretty sure most people who say Oasis have only got 2 good albums stopped listening to Oasis albums after Be Here Now - and therefore your opinion means f*** all... afterall why would you listen to 4 more albums from a band you no longer liked? That is all

arguably one of the better bands of the 90s.  certainly one of the more successful.  pity is, they carried on making records well beyond the 90s.

you said it all in your first sentence.  then it went downhill after that and i didn't read the last 4.

Errr no.

If you mean best, as in consistent at releasing the same record several times, then yes, you are right.

Thankfully, they were awful when they played Glasto, and I'd imagine Noel is unlikely to play anyway.

Their first two records were good,but you lose your status as a credible artist when you cash in, and turn to repeating the same thing over and over and over... in the sunshine. I saw them at Wembley '09, and although I enjoyed it, it was embarrasing how bad Liam's voice had become, and how they'd become stuck in their ways.

I've got Noel Gallagher's solo album, and it's very good in my opinion...would be great to see him/them live on the Other Stage.
