OK  Lennon is dead for starters and yes Neill Young is more than capable of getting pretty close to hitting a performance close to his prime, I was there in 2009 and it was awesome. Dylan, Wilson and (Cat obviously) Stevens are clearly not quite up to it though and my point stands. The best songs they wrote were channelled and will most likely never be bettered, we live in hope, Jessie J's "Nobody's Perfect" is a great song for instance, but there was a Golden Age back in the seventies, I'm sure of that, I don't see that anyone else has hit that standard since.

A good point.  There is still incredible, timeless music being made in the here and now, it's just that there are so many media access points to music these days that a lot gets lost in the white noise.  It wasn't like that in the 70's, music was on radio stations, the odd TV programme (over only 3 channels) and live.  Realistically, only the really good or popular stuff made it through to be showcased and then hit a big audience due to the restricted choices people had.  I bet there's loads of 70's music that was and remains completely anonymous.

This is what people forget. There has always been masses of shit music, but everyone has forgotten about it. In 40 years time people will probably be harking back to now as a golden age of music, because all the turgid dross will have been filtered out by memory, and by 'classic' radio stations, tv programmes etc.

Also, whoever posted above about binning Warpaint in favour of The Kills, you can see both! Warpaint have two slots, friday and saturday. Definitely checking Warpaint out, that they were pretty good on Jools, and i love the album and EP

i meet one of the warpaint lady's last night. she was very nice, but i think she had a slight problem trying to de code my Mancunian ascent, god bless her .

the arctics need to go away for a few years an reinvent there self's. talk about going threw the motions on jules the other night.

Elephant was the best song Warpaint played...These have been playing constantly on my ipod recently, Cannot wait until these play The Park!

Very good show last night, the best in the series yet, except Donovan!!!!!
I can't wait to see Friendly Fires. Saw them in 2009 on the Other in the sunshine, lets hope it's the same this year. Loving there new stuff.
Liking Yuck, will catch them in the JP, there's something alluring about their Bass guitarist!
Loved Nataniel Ratcliffe, is he playing this year? Oh don't think so, not on the list.
James Vincent Morrow is good but sounds a lot like The Magic Numbers, so i would get bored for a whole set

I thought James Vincent McMorrow, Nathaniel Rateliff and Friendly Fires were all fantastic, will definitely check out the former and the latter at Glasto!

Donovan was a highlight, which generally shows it was pretty bland.
