Good shout, it's one of the shows I always like to watch but forget about.
Communication has been sent to the home to put it on series link on Sky

Raphael Saadiq! i might have to watch this. The '70's retro rockers Beady Eye do nothing for me but Elbow, and Anna Calvi should ease the pain.

ELBOW are just on another level-compared to any otner band. an have been since they released seldom seen kid. no one is doing what they do, no one comes close to the tunes they produce.very underestimated
headliners in the making.

Brilliant news. This is one of my favorite programs on the box and I had no idea it was back on. Many thanks.

heh I am a fan but this is ridiculously excessive praise
Granted they are miles better than most of the british bands that are in the public eye at the moment
also, seldom seen kid is nowhere near their best album...

yer very excessive, its taken me 3 times to correct it
obviously its just my view. seldom seen kid to you personality might not be there best album & there might be people on here who agree with you. but its far and way there most successful album so it must be the best to the majority of us.

well I defo agree with you that they are headliner material. This should have been their year instead of coldplay. They easily have the songs for the biggest stage.
Three brand new headliners would have been ace.
Powder blue on the pyramid stage at glasto = ecstacy for me.

"Nowhere near" ?
For the record I think its far and away their most melodic and consistent work. Its their best album Russ. Its miles better than Asleep in the Back as group of songs.

Have to agree. Leaders and SSK for me.
There is obviously the same thing with slow-burn bands becoming big. Whatever changes they make which helps them become more successful always slightly alienates fans. With some bands this a deterioration into lower quality that is more accessible (Muse etc) but for others like Elbow who (I think) have not seen a drop in quality, it is simply that the smaller group of original fans really just liked the unique, specific style of the band, and ANY alteration to this is likely to be not to their taste.

I dont think so. I really dont. Some of the songs on the album now grate on me, to the extent that I skip them. The Fix, An Audience With The Pope, One Day Like This. I skip them everytime.
The Bones of You, Mirrorball, Weather To Fly, Grounds For Divorce. They are average elbow songs for me (still good of course, just not better than their older stuff, in my opinion).
Tower crane, some riot, starlings and friend of ours are the only stand out songs for me.
And I'm really not just saying this because it's popular, honest!
I would put SSK 4th. It's:
Leaders
Cast
Asleep
SSK
for me. I am unsure about the new one as yet.
But dont get me wrong, SSK is still fluffing great.

Wooo read somewhere that The Tallest Man On Earth is playing as well on the show, hope he plays Glasto. I missed out on his last tour but have seen a few liove performances on youtube and stuff and he's fantastic.

Good post Russ.
I think youre being quite tough on the "average" songs you name above. "Bones of You" for example is superb.

Fella, I am right with you.
I saw them last week at the O2 and the crowd were shit. Guy & the band were great but there so little atmosphere beyond the extended stage. I was with a friend who didn't want to go any further forward, not good. They did play practically just the last two albums with a couple from Leaders thrown in, was hoping for Powder Blue, but no luck.
I will be doing all I can to get into the inner sanctum at Glasto this year to see them.
There goes my afternoon with the back catalogue on random...
