I have a West ticket booked as this was the only option available to me. Anybody know if it's worth trying to swap it t  get into the East area. This looks a bit closer to the pyramid etc.

You avoid the daily trek up and down the "Hill of Death" if your on the west side though.

The view from the east when heading into the site is quite impressive though.

Any idea how long to get from West to Pyramid area?

It depends what you want really. West is good for dance areas etc and is a flat walk to the main areas. East has the hill of death but its much closer to the main areas.

Its also worth mentioning that the hill of death really isn't that bad, just a pain in the ar@e on a night

As the crow flies yes, but as you have to go through Ped Gate C there's not a lot in it.

i too have bought a West ticket after it said East was sold out!  However, as an "older" couple perhaps a little bit more peace and quiet will suit us.  Looking at the map though, the late night stuff is much nearer to East

We've decided to go West side this year, only because we've done East side a couple of times before - it'll be nice to compare.
The 'Hill of Death' can be a killer - all depending on how late it is, how long you've been walking, what state you're in and how far away your campervan is! Both of the years when we were in the East side we were put in E17 - the furthest field away! It seems the earlier you arrive, the further away they put you - then they work down.
It took us on average 20mins from the gate to get to E17!  The view from the East side at night time is breathtaking!
:D
