I'm sure there's a thread out there already...but can anyone tell me which is the nearest camping site to the festival?
Planning to travel down on the tuesday so I am nicely in place to meet the gates opening on wednesday morning.
Was wandering which of the sites is the closest in terms of walking distance, or in any case one people would recommend?

Don't know if it helps, last year they opened up the car parks on Tuesday evening, there are no facilities, but you are able to start queuing early

As far as I'm aware there are no campsites within walking distance. There is the Avalon campsite in Glastonbury, but you'd have to find a bus/taxi to get you to the festival from there.

Ashcombe Farm, it's right next to the entrance for West Carparks and where 20 or so eFesters are staying Solstice/pre-festival

This one is behind a pub in Castle Cary, 5 minutes from the railway station so you could hop on the bus shuttle from there to the site.

Thanks for all the replies. Ashcombe Farm sounds like an option. Thanks Paul™.
That's perfect if it's right by the entrance!
