whats your reasons for this as it'd be really good. top two i'm probs doing. but i do think rhcp for soni.

blink under gd for pulling this year, prodigy under lp as have toured with them and i think gaga maybe for 3rd?
For T - Red Hot Chilli's and Linkin Park have new albums out, Greenday are well due a festival appearance
R&L - Foo's pretty much nailed on, Kasabian - Reading and Leeds is the only festival that they haven't headlined it seems and Coldplay likewise with Kasabian, if not i reckon it would be SOAD headlining a rockier day.
For V - Chilli's new album and Arcade Fire because they haven't played V for a while so just a logical guess

Sorry I just gotta say Arcade Fire have never played V, and Coldplay don't fit Reading's audience, SOAD i doubt will be doing fests next year, they'll do US tour and then they MIGHT do more European shows but would probably be their own shows.

I can see your Green Day idea, playing T/Oxygen next year with big UK outdoor shows. I can see them returning to R+L if they do in 2013. Green Day - The Killers - Metallica would be an early guess that year.

Agree with lucky that Coldplay is a no for Reading, headlined it or not, its wether they appeal to headline.

V your reasons I agree with but just not sure it'll be them

My guess at next years headliners:

V- Lady GaGa, Arcade Fire.
R&L- Bloc Party, Foo Fighters, System of a Down.
TITP- RHCP, Jay-z & Kanye, Green Day.
Download- Van Halen, Rammstein, Paramore.
Soni- Tool, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden.
IOW- Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Aerosmith.

If  Pheonix is going to be as big as it is sounding, then i think: Radiohead, The Strokes, The Killers, Jay-Z & Kanye.

And what the hell, Glastonbury 2013 :P: Radiohead, David Bowie, Led Zepplin.

My guess on the line up in no order
Coldplay
Lady Gaga
Swedish House Mafia
Florence and the Machine
Mumford and Sons
Beady Eye
Tinie Tempah
Example
Jessie J
Chase And Status

i know that is very hopeful & unlikely but you never know...

Not a bad shout Gazza I'd expect Beyonce subbing to Coldplay and someone like Tinie Tempa headlining the 2nd stage with SHM playing the other day

I was thinking that but then I thought Florence would have to be offered headline 2nd if not at least 3rd main to keep her from R&L.

Coldplay had Beyonce subbing to them this year and were involved in her at Glasto, and have recently said about why they love This Is It which is why I think The strokes will sub to them, defo as V get a headline band and another band that can almost headline sometimes as 2nd.

Its clear after seeing The Strokes this year that they aren't headline status anymore, Pulp walked them.

Weird act to add this early.

Hoping it doesn't mean he has a huge position in that case

I'd guess given his popularity that he'd be one of the more major names.

He might not even play - but I do know he's been asked.

I said "one of the more major names", rather than just "one of the major names".

I wouldn't think he'd be as high up the bill as you've said there, tho that's only my presumption (I don't have any info on where he might play if he does).

Last summer he pulled out of both Global Gathering & Bestival. Saw the end of his set at Bestival '10 & he was pretty good. I would say Labrinth also would be very likely to play.

I'd expect an appearance from Snow Patrol,  they've got a tour going for the beginning of 2012;   subheadling Stone Roses?

So Coldplay who were expected by a few to be playing V Fest too next year. Does Coldplay's announced Stadium gigs rule them out?

These stadium gigs then oct/nov arena tour seems more likely?

I think it makes them more likely now if honest.

In recent years I've seen The Killers, Muse and Eminem at V. None of them did big outdoor gigs that same year. The only two have done Hyde Park I think in recent years were Oasis in 09 and Kings of Leon in 10. But KOL were tour whores doing arena tour every other day haha.

Could still happen I guess, with their outdoor show finishing early june and only 5 of them.

Reckon it makes them likely for Isle of Wight, not sure about V, i reckon Radiohead might headline V
