It's kind of annoying me all this hate for MCR, is more to the reason why I'm glad I'm not going this year. People have known they would headline this year from September, lets be honest yet people still insist they can't headline. They are officially headlining and now I'm reading threads people will bottle them if they play a song they don't like (why there watching a band they don't like for starters bemuses me anyway).

Tickets are still on sale (which is a rarity) so that to me suggests people have seen the line up, thought I'll go elsewhere, like me for example, I knew who these headliners would pretty much be, saw TITP line up, had MCR (which convinced people more they wouldn't play here when it was more clutching straws), and thought that line up will probably be better for me and I'll go there instead.

Now I understand people don't have money at available times and save up for their one festival, so ultimately you will be disappointed with the line up but you still don't have to go just because you've saved up, use the money for a holiday or a weekend lash, could be a refreshing thing to skip out a festival for one year  ;)

I personally think MCR will put on a great headline show and am a little gutted to be missing them, but also my experience of seeing a band a loved growing up would ultimately be ruined as people who didn't get their own way for headliners react by throwing bottles, thinking that will make a difference.

Overall, there are people who would quite like to see MCR live, don't be a nob and ruin the performance for them I'm sure you'd all be ranting at the "chavs" if they were to bottle your favourite band last year.

I agree with this, everyone should re-direct their anger and vitriol towards 30STM.

I concur. The reason I'm not going this year is the poor spread of bands on the other days, it has nothing to do with the headliners (of whom I would only be watching MCR).

The new album's pretty good, and was far from a flop, and they're just as worthy, if not more so than the likes of Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, The Darkness etc.

id say there more worthy than someone like arcade fire. even though people seem to hate my chemical romance, they know who they are, and there was a general consensus of 'who are arcade fire' last year (mainly on facebook/twitter admittedly). i do prefer arcade fire though.

I think you might have just cracked open a big ol' can of worms there! But in essence you're right (though the logic would also make Rebecca Black headline material)

Yeah I think people will completely misinterpret that and get on the "OMG NO WAY ARE MCR BETTER THAN ARCADE FIRE" soapbox.

IN THEORY MCR deserve a headline slot due to where they've played before, how long they've been around, their fanbase matching what FR want a piece of, selling a lot of albums and getting a lot of airplay, etc.

Both Arcade Fire and MCR have deserved their headline spot in my opinion.

Arcade Fire proved their worth by putting on the best set of the weekend last year and im sure MCR will prove their worth too.

I cant see there being a problem with bottling, not with the amount of day ticket holders there to see MCR.

I think we see the two types of reaction against headliners with this year's line up. The first is MCR who are a new headliner and are thus criticised as not being good enough to headline. The second is Muse who have been around a fair amount and are thus criticised as being unoriginal and worn out. That these arguments should emerge from the same people is in itself amusing. However, both arguments are essentially a cover for 'Why is a band that I don't like headlining?'.

The problem isn't going to be with the day tix holders, it'll be the weekend campers who haven't got any else to see as Beady Eye & Horrors aren't huge draws and feel like in the own stupid way they'll be making a statement by bottling them.

I'm pretty sure MCR will put on an amazing show and everyone their to watch them will have an amazing time. I'll probably be going to see them, I'm not a huge fan but I'll be going with an open mind and i'm sure I'll have a good time.

As long as I don't see any f**kers throwing bottles.;)
