The eFestivals Forums app for the iPhone, iPad, & iPod is now available, and can be downloaded for free.

Get it from here:-

What an addition (from which I'm now posting).

Really top marks to the people who put this together.

I remember when this was suggested about a year ago Neil was quite negative about the idea. What changed? Am glad it did.

What changed? The price. :D

I've had this done for me for about fourty quid, which is too good a price to turn down. :)

At some point in the future they'll also be an Android app for the forums too (again costing about £40).

And a lightweight 'mobile' version of the full website is in development, and should be available by the beginning of May. There might also be an iPhone/iPad/iPod app for the full site in the near(ish) future too.

don't go holding your breath too long, you'll suffocate. :P

Unfortunately I can't give an firm date for when the Android app will be available, the best idea I'm able to give at the moment is that it should be within 6 months.

6 months?!! I hate the way everyone goes with the iphone app first.  It's like prioritising dictatorships over democracy!

WooHoo! Fantastic work. The only downside I can see is a personal one. I stumbled upon this just as I was about to get started on my dissertation!

I can remember Neil saying apps would not be around long enough to bother with one when I suggested this last year. Or something along those lines. I knew he would succumb eventually.

In this case, I've had no say about it. There was an existing iPhone app that could be adapted for these forums, while there's not currently an Android app that can be adapted.

apps are very much a passing phase. They'll be gone soon enough, when phones get to do the web better than they currently do.

The only reason I've had this done is because it was so cheap. If I'd had to pay the more normal development costs for these things there wouldn't have been a chance in hell that they'd have been done.

Looking forward to the android app, but to be fair I find the mobile skin really good, better than some others I've come across recently! So not hugely disappointed that it'll be a wee while in coming! :)

Oh superb!
Now I'll be checking the glasto forums even more often than I used to .... And that was quite a lot, and with increasing intensity as we roll towards June 21st!!

Useful app, reckon you could probably have charged a nominal fee (eg.  59p) to cover the cost but not going to complain about getting it for free :D
