I left about 9/10am last year and it was mostly fine, just casually got about 7ish as we had been doing packed up the rest of the stuff having took the majority back to the car on the sunday morning. We said if we saw ques getting out we'd go back and have a wonder around once everything had been packed but it looked clear so we set off, was back in London by 2 and that was with a couple of stops. (and going what seemed to be fairly long winded route out away from the site)

You always seem to get sent out some random way - I always spent the first 30 mins of the journey going "Errr guys, where the f**k are we going?!"

Last couple of years I have left around 2:30pm (I hitch out with anyone I can befriend during the festival so don't get to make a decision on it) and it has been slow going to bristol, with that section of the journey taking 3 hours or so.

I agree with comments about it being a bit depressing on Monday as the day goes on, although this was much less of an issue in 2010, as the site wasn't quite such a shithole as it had been the year before.

If I had my choice I'd be up and away about 5am :P

Last year we left between 9 and 10 with hardly a hitch.

2009 was at the car park for 6.30 - 7am and spent about 20 minutes getting out

Last year campervan, left it until the queues had cleared and left around 1.30pm ....this year not leaving until at least that time again - big party on Sunday - watch the sunrise, then go back and sleep while all those around us leave .... wake up, pack in peace and quiet and amble offsite

Ferry back home not until Tuesday morning so plenty of time for us :-)

Before 6 Monday morning and you'll be out within 10/15 minutes which is what we did last year. Seem to remember setting off around 7/7.30 Monday morning and it was probably an hour at least to get out so if you don't want to hang around before 7 is good.

We generally don't even think about packing till Monday mid morning so leave some time after lunchtime but one of our group had to leave at 6am on Monday a couple of years ago and he sailed through with no traffic hold ups.

We are camping off site on the Sunday but its only a short walk..  :D
I guess we will be late in and I'm not rushing to get away.
We have a 260 mile trip and the last 2 years I have really struggled on the drive home.
So this year a steady drive half way and we are staying at relatives to break up the trip.
I recon to be on the road for about 10ish heading for the M5.. Hopefully missing those stupid temporary Tlights between Street and the motorway.

We shall be leaving at around 1 - 2 pm on Monday. We left at this time last year and didnt hit any traffic until Stonehenge ( but then, there is always a lot of traffic around Stonehenge!!)

When is best to leave the Glasto festival?

When you feel a cow licking your face and awake to find you are lying in a field completely naked and everyone else has packed up and gone home.  :D

We've tried all times.

I once left before the last act on Sunday and got home in time to watch it on tv - getting out of the site didn't take long at all, plus traffic on way home was quiet (apart from that stretch past Stonehenge).

Left 6am in 2007, and luckily missed the 7 hour queues, so I guess if it's bad weather and you don't want to sit in traffic on Monday, leave earlier than 9am.

Last year we stayed until 2pm but couldn't bear the sight of everything being taken down, and it was hard to find somewhere to eat for lunch.

Best option is early Monday.

Have only been the past two years but on both occasions have just chilled out at camp then headed off around one.

No problems with traffic and back in London to watch highlights on i player sat in camping chair with a can (come on i can't be only one who does that)within hours.

Guess it depends where your heading and how desperate you are to get there.

I have done a few things-leave during the peak time, leave about 5am, leave teatime Sunday and leave Sunday night. I am terrible at waking up in the morning so the 5am option was awful, teatime leaving is depressing and peak time it takes hours to get out. Of all the times leaving last year at 11pm was best-on a high and no awful traffic/feeling shit

Since 08 I have depressingly left at 6am due to having to get lift back to deepest East Sussex with local chum but previous to that I would leave at about 6pm having spent the entire day shopping for mega bargains at all the market stalls with their plus half price goodies. The leaving at 6am was due to my lift 'needing' to leave at that fecking stupid ridicluous time, for what reason I STILL dont know to this day...but this year I plan to be a driving licence holder with car and will leave by 4pm to head over to Longleat Center Parcs to then indulge in their incredible Aqua Sana Spa experience (which |I have been promising myself to do since 2006!!!)

If you are sensible and clever and an aware human being, you will find a quick way out of site. If you are sheep and a numpty you wil follow the big long stupid queues and sit there being tormented by 7 hours of Chris Moyles if you dont figure out speedy routes out of the car parks. Its not difficult...DONT join queues - cut across car parks and drive against/away from the traffic or just simply guess your way out. In the past 5 years, my gang (despite leaving at 6am) has not queued or got stuck once even though there were blatant silly car queues all around us. I think it took less than 10 mins to get out last year.

I like to stay Monday and leave at about 2-3 in the afternoon. Really depends on the weather though.

If its been wet, more people will leave Sunday night rather than spend another night in the mud. If its sunny on Monday, more people will hang about a bit into the afternoon

The graph above is useful but it really depends where you are parked - last year we left at peak time and were on the road within 10 minutes because we were near the edge of afield near the main drag. In years gone by it has taken up to 6 hours by trying to leave about 11am Monday.
