Leeds never sells out until August. I got mine 2 weeks or so before last year off seetickets. Year before that I just rang seetickets up in June and got a ticket.
Reading will "sell out" on the day but you should be able to get a ticket all week.

Leeds - Fine, although you may have to keep checking as they go on and off sale a lot.
Reading - may be struggling by then, depends on the rush

Leeds Festival tickets go a lot less quickly than Festival Republic have you believe. I went mental last year trying to be the first in the queue to get them but found out from some Facebook friends that there are always places to go to buy them, right up until the last week. There's no mad rush.

And to add to the reassurance, the festival (leeds) has been expanded, meaning there is an extra 5,000 tickets this year

Yup ive been trying to tell people on here for years but there is still a mad rush on the night. The last time I tried to get tickets on the day about 4 years ago I just gave up as it was that busy, logged on a week or 2 later and got 3. Ive found ringing seetickets is the best way as they wont lie like the website, if they have any tickets they will sell you some.

Yeah, my mate bought one off seetickets literally 2 weeks before the fest last year.

I think this is the first year they've done the presale tickets with Vodafone so I don't think ayone knows how quickly they'll go or even what the allocation is. The general presale back in August didn't sell out (at least not for at least a week or so), but I think the one in December went a bit quicker. As the excitement's built for festivals over the past few weeks I'd expect this one to sell out its allocation, but probably not until Saturday.
Besides, as has been mentioned, the festival's rarely "sell out". The only time I can remember when there were pretty much no tickets available at cost was 2008 - and that was the combination of The Killers, Rage Against The Machine's first English shows in 8 years and Metallica.

I can't remember where my Facebook friends said they got their tickets from but I know they got them in July and paid about £100 each for them, and there were 6 of them.

I would love to have confidence of trying to get them late on and very cheap but I would be too up tight until I had them in my hand.
Try and find out where they got them from DaveTH.
It might be my only option of getting people to go this year.
Cheers

I think people on eBay just got a bit mugged off that year. I normally get my ticket off eBay within the 30 day PayPal cover period & have never paid more than retail price as I am at uni when they are released & inevitably skint. It doesn't bother me getting tickets so close to the event as they are only sent in the post about 2 weeks before the bank holiday.

eBay apparently.
And there weren't 6 of them - there were 4 and another 2 got the tickets at the regular price, and it was just weekend camping rather than early bird as well.
I think with eBay you just have to set yourself a budget you aren't prepared to go over and then just take a leap of faith with them. I remember getting ripped off there once with a concert (think it was Rammstein, actually) and the only consolation I got from the experience was that I got the user banned for basically just sending me a message that said "HA HA" repeated until his character allowance had run out.
I think a good thing to have on here (maybe in the decent FAQ thread) would be to give a list of reputable sources for cheap tickets, and advice on how to deal with eBay sellers.

I always set an alarm on my phone for tickets I know will end at stupid times when no one else will be awake. I got my ticket for 2009 after I came back from a night out at 4am & the ticket had 25mins to go. In my drunken state I bid a huge amount of money on it but fortunately no one else was awake to bid.

Aye I was cacking my pants last year thinking my ticket wasn't gonna arrive from see in time. I ordered on the 1st of September, all my friends ordered theirs in march, and mine was the last to arrive, bastards.
