Having been to to every Glasto in the last 16 yrs, I find I may have an issue this summer.

I have a ticket. So do the 2 teenagers I am bringing, and our various friends / other campers.

However.. it seems I may not be able to drive in June, and may also require possible assistance setting up/moving around.

This isn't 100% - I have had a couple of "incidents" involving sudden drop in BP leading to a collapse.

Anyone ever had any experience approaching the festival about a +1 as a precationary measure.

The thing is, I'm not registered disabled or anything, and will be 95% likely to be OK throughout the festival... but for peace of mind / safety would be better if "the other half" came too.

This isn't an attempt to try and blag a freebie...the other half was registered, and I could have bought a ticket...in fact, I'd be happy to pay for the +1.... but they chose not to go the last couple of years(and would rather not this year!!), when its just been me and the kids & our extended group of happy campers

Not an issue at the smaller festivals we are all planning to go to as well.. and I know some will say  "just don't go" .....but I want to - that's why I've been to the previous ones since 1994.

Will GFL just say "tough!!".. anyone got a contact name in the festival office who is "nice" ???

Pretty sure 'GFL will just say "tough!!"' but in a nice Glastonbury way! You need to have a full time carer and receiving DLA to get a carers ticket. There are lots of people who due to illness now have to take things a little easier at Glastonbury but hopefully you can still enjoy the festival but just a little slower than before!

All the criteria and the contact details are on their website.

Or maybe try in the resale for a ticket for your other half? Good luck!  :)

Can't see your problem really, you are going with  2 (presumably healthy) teenagers and assorted friends, unless you are planning on spending a lot of time on your own you can rely on them to look out for you, they can certainly help you set up and there are other ways to get to the festival if you can't drive. Don't think the festival have any obligation to give you a free ticket and if you are willing to pay just try for one in the resale.

In that case I wish I had not tried to assist. You would appear to have an illness NOT a severe disability, you do not need a full time carer as you are you not coming alone. Please leave the limited passes for those who need them.  :(
