Rod has been announced for Hard rock calling!
I first thought Legend spot however its the Sunday he is playing there!
Do you reckon he would play any other spot than headliner?

Nope, he wouldn't. He's got an ego bigger than the universe.
When he played (in 2002, was it?) his manager complained to Glasto that efestivals was listing Roger Waters above him, and that if Glasto didn't get efestivals to change it he'd pull out.
(I should have left it.
)
There was also lots and lots of posts here (which were the official forums at that time) from "fans", telling us all how fantastic he'd be and how he'd put all the other acts on the bill to shame. I did a bit of research into those posts, and they very strangely all came from the office of his manager.
Rod and his manager both sound like lovely men.

Considerable consensus backing up the statement that Stewart is the worst headliner in the festival's 41 years.

Wasn’t there but it looked horrific on TV. Just awful. Hes gone down in Glasto history as an absolute stinker.

Haha, Honestly! You should put him lower in the hard rock calling page!
Kidding on!

I love Rod on record but it's a shame it doesn't translate live anymore. I'd love to see him.

Will someone please tell him that his voice is er....not as good as it used to be? Then maybe he'll stop.

Have to say I missed him in 2002 as I was dying in me tent, the longdrops or somewhere inbetween the two due to the earlier consumption of a particularly iffy hog roast
The one and only occasion that I've ever been even remotely ill at a fest at any time anywhere
Mind you, after watching his 'performance' on TV when I got home, it soon became *very* clear that this was by far the best possible scenario and clearly a gift from the gods. I had a way better and infinitely more enjoyable time dying in the tent/longdrops/elsewhere than he did on the Pyramid Stage and I saw considerably better sh*t into the bargain

Yes as you were dying in your tent, Rod was dying on stage. He gave a performance worthy of a cruise ship lounge. I think it very unlikely he will be asked back again.

'02 certainly wasn't a vintage year for Pyramid headliners to say the least. On the Sunday night Air on the Other Stage weren't doing it for us so ended up at the Cinema Field. I'll always remember bumping into people up there who'd bailed out of Rod Stewart early & were stunned by how awful he'd been, I must have spoken to half a dozen who'd seen some of his set & each one said it was the worst act they'd seen at Glastonbury. Have to say the only way I'd have been within earshot would have been if, as was half-heartedly rumoured earlier that year, it was a Faces reunion. As for the chances of a return of the egotistical tool I'd put them on a par with Michael Jackson making an appearance.

so we have you to blame then...
2002 was my first Glasto, and it was just the worst collection of headliners possible. Middle of the program was all right, but at the top, it just wasn't to be.
Roger Waters was the 'real' headliner for me. He played longer than anyone else on the weekend (2 hrs). I did see Coldplay on the friday, but chose Robert Plant on saturday in the acoustic tent instead of Stereophonics. I think Plant commented somewhere that he was miffed he wasn't on the Pyramid in fact.
Chose Air on sunday instead of Rod. Air are not a live band, so that was a mistake too. should have just gone walkabout after Waters.

Over £70 a ticket at Pittodrie in June, He should wear a bloody mask charging those prices.

That's the funniest thing I read on this forum! I'm not the biggest Rod fan, but I do love the work he did with the Faces - until Ronnie Lane left when he felt they were turning into Rod's backing band. Not sure I'd go see him unless he reunited with the Faces again for a one off Glasto gig. He and Ronnie Wood have been pictured out on the town recently.

Last year Hard Rock Calling had Stevie Wonder, Paul Maccartney and Perl Jam.
So far this year, Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart..
Bad year for the bookers?

A friend of mine booked him for a huge corporate gig a few years back.
He said that he was awful and a complete ass overall.
Apparently he bailed out on the contracted VIP meet-and-greet, jumped into his limo and had his plane wheels up flying away before folks had even left the ballroom.
Another friend who does lighting told me that he was on a crew that was lighting him on a multi-act show and Rod wouldn't let them put any light the band or do anything at all with the moving lights. He insisted they all be pointed at him....the quoted comment was "you don't need to light anything else up here but me, I'm the star"....(or words to that effect)....
I can't recall ever hearing anyone say a good word about him or his behavior in the past couple decades.
One of the few acts that if you gave me a ticket I still wouldn't cross the street to see.
