Just looking that it would appear BB King is playing on Friday and seemingly not headlining, seems that there may be a chance of 'When Love Comes To Town' being played on the Pyramid. Now that is a thought I'm liking!! Can't be many times they've played it together live

That would be pretty special and very much in keeping with the tradition of special guests and whatnot.

No. Apparently the more likely happening is U2 are going to play with BB King.

i hear the tabloids are guessing that U2 aren't bringing their 360 set ( I never ) and are dumping their touring set for a 'greatest hits' set - which I think means they will swap 3 songs and play
an oldie or two

Love comes to town will go down well - I Didn't see Willie nelson stump up with Pet shop boys, nor did shirley bassey join the arctic monkey. I guess theres a chance if bb's set finishes on time and doesn't clash..  who knows!

Apologies if this is a completely retarded question, but can BB King play these days? He must be over 80?

I don't say this in a derogatory way. He's one of the greatest of all time. A genuine BB performance would surely be the highlight of the festival, but I just have no idea if he is physically able to do it any more. I mean Clapton is in his 60s and has been forced to completely change his style...

Just a quick search on youtube.

He just has to sit down now, I guess that's the only difference?

seeing as he's doing a full set elsewhere, one would hope he can still play

Just because their 'playing' doesn't mean they can play as they did in the past

I guess he's slowing down a bit

Peter Green was propped up by a good backing band when I saw him last year - his vocals inaudible
and his guitar work limited; he had another guitarist who did the necessary. sad to see really

He can still play ok,but its very stage managed, same old licks, no feeling any more, plus why is he still touring, when i saw him about 4 years back in NEC it was billed as his fairwell tour...So what happened there then. I can't see him doing anything with U2....he will be tucked up in his bed by then...;)

Peter Green was really sad.  It felt like he was being used by people cashing in on his name.
Some other veterens can still do it - I was knocked out by Leonard Cohen at Glasto a few years back.
It must be hard for someone who has enjoyed great adulation in the past, and possibly still needs money, to take the decision to call it quits.
Cohen needed money after being ripped off but he was still able to put on a great show.
I'll be there for BB.  I hope he's still all there for me, as I'd rather preserve a memory of someone in their prime than see someone who's become a shambling wreck and a shadow of their former self.

Leonard was one of the greatest moments ever...

But yeah, hope BB is good. Haven't heard anything to say he won't be, just wondering if anybody here knew better.

yep - he has to do his own washing in launderettes in LA now.

(it was in the papers over the weekend).

You would have thought that he would have cash for a cleaner, bearing in mind the cheapest tickets for his Albert Hall gigs are £225...

he hasn't been much cop for years though... since the mid 70's I'd say

totally... that band wouldn't be getting the gigs they do if Peter Greens name was associated with it

his lack of ability isn't anything to do with ageing
