Hey! So this year will be my first RockNess after experiencing TiTP for the first time last year. I've heard from quite a lot of people who have been to both, say that they are very different in the nature and atmosphere, and that RN is a lot more civilised and more festival-like than T. I'm mainly going to RN for the electronic/dance acts and wondering what the crowd and stages are like compared to T's Slam Tent? Also, is the security a lot more stricter than T? I was 15 during T last year and got in no problem with drink, didn't get ID'd or anything. Should I be more cautious for RockNess? I also heard that if you're under 18 then you need a 21 year old as a guardian, if my 19 year old mate used his 21 year old brother's ID would that get a group of 16/17 year olds in no problem if they look a lot alike? Are they known for turning a lot of people away or not allowing them in? Sorry if I'm being dumb here but I'd rather be safer than sorry. Thanks in advance!

You'll be alright if you're underage. I'm only 17 and was getting in without adults when I was 14. If all else fails, just say you are with the person in front of you. There isn't as much violence/crime/arseholes at Rockness as there are at TITP.
You and your pals will enjoy it a lot more than TITP if you are into Electronic music as opposed to the indie scene although there is still a lot of variety.

Here Andy if you don't go around talking up the slam tent maybe you won't get punched by a psychopathic eccy crazy murder.

To be really honest.. I am sick of the whole RN TitP conversation - but, I feel that RockNess has more of a 'party' atmosphere, generally the people seem more friendly/less antisocial. Stages are quite intimate, apart from Clash Tent which is approximately 12,000 capacity.

Bought our tickets last night and it will be our first time at Rockness. We're travelling up from Devon but if we have the same kind of great time we had at T in the Park in 2008 and 2010 it'll be well worth the trip.
One question: is the camp site open on Thursday?

I go to both and would say there was a more chilled out atmosphere at Rockness than T in The Park probably due to it being quite a bit smaller. I think you'll have a great time regardless.
I think you will be fine getting in to the festival. Never heard of anyone underage being turned away. I have been id'd for alcohol in the arena though and i'm well above the age limit unfortunately, i think it just depends on who serves you and how much of a power trip they are on.

I volunteered at RockNess last year and we were told that we could be fined up to £20,000 for serving underagers at the bar. This may have been the reason why the bar staff were a little over cautious when IDing folk. I find it hard to tell people's age, so I'm sorry if it was me!
