What are the chances of Stuck In A Moment?
You know when football teams retire player numbers because they were so good? Well I think U2 have retired Stuck in a Moment for the complete opposite reason - because of what Mick Jagger does to it here. He rapes the song. Sodomises it. Just f**king awful, laughably awful.

If the song Stuck in a Moment was a person, they'd be scrunched up in the fetal position somewhere under a cold shower right now, sobbing and screeching like a gibbon.....

"Why me?..... why me?....."

Not knowing the words is one thing, but incorporating the "Jagger on autopilot strut" into a slow ballad is just wrong. The man just does not give a f**k.

Saw them at 360 Tour in Sheffield a couple of years ago with Elbow in support, not surprised to see them together on the bill.

To be honest as an all-round event it was probably the best gig I've ever been to. The crowd and atmosphere wasn't a patch on the Glastonbury ones, I guess there was a large frequency of 'older people' who never seem to get as pumped as younger crowds (Prodigy on the Other Stage in 09 was brutal). The show was immense though. I'm 16 and very few of my friends like U2 at all and its a massive shame, they're seriously missing out and I think it's down to a misconception of their talents. Their last couple of albums haven't been on the level of Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree and they've become a band that people love to hate, to the point were people my age almost universally sneer at them.

Ah well, their loss.

I'll just say that the best live video I've seen of U2 is far and away ZOOTV.

My only song requests are The Fly, Bad, New Year's Day and Until the End of the World as they haven't appeared on 360 a great deal and I haven't heard them live. It'd also be great if they played Unforgettable Fire, that was a real highlight at Sheffield 2009.

I'm completely with you on that. I'm 16, U2 are my favourite band and I'm often mocked by others my age because they've become a band that it's uncool to like. People only seem to associate them with vertigo and beautiful day, and forget that they've been making music for 30 odd years.
But I'm sure U2 will be at their most extraordinary in years and blow everyone away ;)

On the subject of U2 playing unusual songs I've had a hunch for a while that Bono and the boys might return the favour that Muse did them last year and have Bellamy (or the 3 of them) come on stage for a cover. I'd love to hear them have a go at Plug-In Baby...

The chances of this are (thankfully) infinitesimal. BB is the only guest youre likely to see.

If it was to happen, Starlight I'd imagine would be the likely song (though I found an uncannny resemblance between City of Blinding Lights and Resistance last night)  unless Bono fancies trying Supermassive Black Hole - it has to be one the masses will know.

Though it is probably very unlikely!!
