for me the V line up is almost as if somebody has read my mind and created a list of all the bands im not into.

which is fine as i have no intention of going.

but, they have Razorlight!  have you seen them lately?

is wrong to want to see that hat in the flesh?  do V crowds throw piss?  would that be worth the cost of a ticket to see?

I'd forgotten that picture

That hat :D

Dear lord, that hat :D :D :D

really funny considering i was watching a 2005 tape from the saturday night and how times have changed. You could see a devide in the band back then.

This is without doubt the worst festival line up I've ever seen. It's so like T4 on the Beach it actually makes me a little sad that the average 2011 festival goer might even look at it and think of getting tickets. If you read the V boards, they're all going nuts over it as if it's the best thing ever but it's literally like someone's got the Radio 1 playlist, spewed it onto a poster, added some reformed bands that were popular 15 years ago and then gone back in time by 6 years to when Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs were big. We don't even know the Glasto lineup yet but it could have Newton Faulkner playing all weekend and it'd still be better than this.

Pretty much all of it!

I wouldn't go to v either but primal scream are so boring and predictable.
Their music has spanned various genres, and Screamadelica is probably the best example of that.

They were doing it 20 years ago and have only got worse.
Well their last few albums have been poor but they also did two more great albums after 91.

Granted would be ok to see screamadelica " again" but that would last 5 minutes before boredom set in I imagine!
Have you heard the bootlegs? Even naysayers have said they're really on form again.

Plan B would be better to watch
Don't like Plan B

than that arrogant twat mani thinking he invented rock and roll.
Mani? I've never heard him say anything like that, do you mean Bobby Gillespie? Mani is very approachable and laid back.

Ok ill go for both of them being tits. As far as I can remember the plug got pulled on them the last time they played at glastonbury and bobby g was giving Nazi salutes on stage. He was always a smack head but this took the piss. Mani might be an ok guy from what I have met bit recent things have changed that view. Bit f**k personalities etc. That's no big deal. We all have bad days and bad times etc.

PS. One pretty good album after screamadelica. I'm from Glasgow and would always mention then as being one of the best bands to come from the city but thats just because of 2 albums.

I love the other stories of meeting mani etc but its not a band I'm arsed about. Went on tour with them in 91 ans was mental but a bit boring when it comes to them doing the biggest festival in the world. But I haven't listened to the bootlegs so maybe I should as I'm pretty out of date with music.

But the plan B album is amazing. Should give it a go.

Firstly, I agree, the Plan B album is amazing.  Probably my favourite album of last year.

BUT you're basing your opinion of Mani on the fact that he's in a band with Bobby Gillespie which seems more than a little bit weird and, quite frankly, misguided to me.  Would you be happy with everyone judging you by the behaviour and actions of your work colleagues?  I certainly wouldn't be.  Oh, and the Primal Scream set was absolutely amazing (best of the weekend apart from possibly Ian Brown on The Other).  I'm fairly sure that Bobby Gillespie isn't a Nazi and, through the haze of whatever he was on at the time, thought he was being funny/ironic/sarcastic in some way.  Basically, he got the joke wrong.  We've all done that. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that, for similar reasons, most of the people at Glastonbury will make at least one offensive and ill-judged remark or gesture during the weekend.

Plus, lets be honest, if you were booked to be second from last on The Pyramid you'd think you'd got a great slot at the festival.  Only to find out you're supporting Basement Jaxx?!!!  I think that would send most people over the edge.

Great story! I had a pint with Mani once before they played Sheffield Octagon in 2000 and he was a good laugh and really down to earth. This doesn't compare with your story though!

I bought him a pint in a pub in Leicester once, top bloke and a legend!

Yeah I know that. Not even concerned as I know there is always to much I want to see. Live and let live I say. If it wasn't for all the other festivals like this then the people that go to them would be wanting to come to worthy farm! More dickheads.

Long live V.

Aint that the truth.  I am guessing it is mostly poulated by teenagers (like T4 on the beach) and a few adults who prefer a smaller, safer festival and blander line-up. Has anybody who's slagging off the V line-up ever been? Or would consider going? I doubt it. All the mouthing off just sounds like music snobbery and Glasto snobbery to me.

If I was going to attack V festival for anything it would be the complete lack of value for money for families. I mean £175 a ticket for everyone over the age of 5 is £700 for a family of four or £950 for a fmaily of five. Compared to Glasto - £400 for two adults, take as many kids under 12 as you like, lasts for 5 days and there is a hundred-times the ammount entertainment on offer.

I've been to V... in '07 when Foo's and the Killers headlined.... and tbh the line up fits into V's audience.... a shed load of teenagers... who are getting away from the parents for the first time.... just like T4 on the beach but in a field.... i'm just glad my eyes have been opened to how much of a extortionate festival it is
